I have experience with both companies and will share some personal experiences. I just passed my checkride so I'm free to speak.
First I signed up with Iflyifr whose based in Conn. They send a pilot to you so you are in familiar surroundings and your own plane. You are responsible for his...
Hello,
I'm fairly new into my Instrument and I'm having some difficulty on keeping within my deflection limits. I have used my Aspen Evo to monitor my HSI for course and the diamond for the glideslope.
My instructor is wanting me to use both diamonds but for some reason I'm finding it harder...
I'm thinking my Aspen is a basic 1000 model. It has the TAS, HSI, and wind but it doesn't have the altitude reminder at the top right of the unit on the altitude tape. I would like that for approaches.
Is there a software upgrade for this or do I need to upgrade to the Pro Max?
Does Garmin have something that is comparable to the Aspen other than a pair of G5's? I want the Garmin 500 autopilot and the Aspen is not compatible. Currently have the STec 50 but want vertical preselect.
I was shown once a long time ago but for the life of my I can't remember how to do this!
I want to make an extended runway line on the 430 from an airport where there are no published approaches. Can someone walk me through the procedure? What I can remember is using the heading bug on my Aspen...
Hello everyone!
I was wondering if anyone training in a 182 is doing their approaches at 90kts? My instructor has me doing them at 105 but things are happening that much quicker and getting back on the path/slope has to be done quicker. I'm sure that's okay for a seasoned Instrument pilot but...
I got a UAX Tailbeacon installed on my 182R a few weeks ago. On two test flights I tried to track it through Flight Aware and both times it only tracked my plane for less than 10 minutes. Both flights were over an hour in length. Should I try to re-do the software install that my avionics shop...
I would have thought that there would be more comments on PIC but maybe it isn't the school of choice for accelerated training any longer. After going through it (8 day schedule advertised) took over 16 months (doing 1/2 days many split schedules due to him) so it was just like an overcharged...
Sorry I haven't followed the thread since I was the one which initiated it.
The Examiner failed me because I went full deflection. Why....... because when we were setting up for the RNAV he had been trying to constantly shake my confidence by continually referring to me as "Captain" and other...
Type 2 diabetes will require a Special Issuance Medical. Your local FAA doctor will forward your testing/diagnosis into to Oklahoma City and they will determine whether to issue. They probably will but you will have to "re-apply" every year for the special issuance. I recommend once the Special...
The hourly rate is around $120 an hour. Generally you have to pay the costs of the instructor's travel expenses (airfare and hotel) to your location. Luckily my guy lived locally so that cost was not incurred. We did 1/2 days so the cost was $480 a day but actual hobbs time was 2.7 or so. Rest...
I went through PIC for my instrument. I have my opinions that I would gladly share but I am interested in unbiased opinions of other students / graduates. I'm sure you are reading between the lines here and yes I did have issues. I just want to see if it's a pattern or was my experience unique?
When you follow the approach you activated on the 430 it gives you the
My question was do Ifollow the distances as laid out on the 430 screen or use the DME distances and line up your path on the HSI. Two completely different counting procedures. The DME count would be the entry point as per...
Hi guys!
I'm practicing for my checkride and one of the tasks the local examiner wants is a VOR-A approach into KGPC (Putnam Co, IN). Using the Brickyard VOR (VHP) out of Indianapolis on an outbound radial.... the airport environment is at 23.1 DME.
My question is..... would you dial in the...
Finally I can give everyone a "what not to do" or "what happens when" situations!
I live just west of Indianapolis in Terre Haute HKUF. It's a great airport, Delta, and multiple runways. We even have a college aviation program. The problem is to find a CFII who can spend the time with you. His...
