Question on Cessna 182T fuel flow on starting

Thanks Dan. Steam gauges. Now that I think about it, the 182T's that I rented prior to my purchase were all G1000's. If I do a count to 5, it barely rises. I try to start it and nothing. Then I do it, but wait about 10s, and good to go. I have replaced the boost pump already due to a leak...

Question on Cessna 182T fuel flow on starting

I have a 2002 182T, purchased it in December of last year. Typical starting procedure is you crack the throttle, mixture idle cut off, turn on the boost pump, and enrichen the mixture. Once you see positive fuel flow and it stabilizes (3-5s), mixture back to idle cut off and turn off the boost...

    S-tec 55x, no audible alerts

You’re right, I probably should be happy about that! :). The plane is new to me, so not sure if it ever worked before. Was considering having it worked under warranty, but perhaps it isn’t such a big deal.

    S-tec 55x, no audible alerts

Any thoughts on what would cause my s-tec 55x to have no audible alerts? Usually, you have an audible alert when you activate or deactivate the autopilot. Mine is not providing an audible. Any idea what may be the issue?

    TIO-540 T182T climb #’s

Thanks for the replies, seems like I am running the same as the rest. When I see the climb rate in the book, I sure don’t get that at 25”/2400, that must just be at 32/2400. I also like to run TIT right around 1585. I’m all for a cooler engine temp. Good point on the 18 gph vs the 16. Will...

    TIO-540 T182T climb #’s

POH calls for take off climb at 32” and 2400 rpm at 24 gph. For enroute climb, settings are 25” and 24 rpm at 16 gph. My question is when to switch to cruise climb. If I take off at sea level and climb to 10,000’, I usually pull back to 25” and 2400 when at or above TPA, leaning to keep TIT...

    Buying my first plane PA-32-300

Congrats! I recently purchased a 1980 PA32 (Toga) and was a prior 172/182 flier, with about the same hours as you. Landing has been my biggest transition, much different from the Cessna’s. This bird can be heavy and a much less glide range. Know your speeds and stick to them.

    IO-540 Leaning...

As the OP, I appreciate all the feedback, tips and suggestions. I do need to get more familiar with my JPI 700 and lean correctly and consistently. I’ve read the manuals, and watched the videos (crappy ones), and will continue to research. I know what I’m doing won’t cause harm, but clearly...

    IO-540 Leaning...

Appreciate the responses. Seems best to first set power settings ~65%, then begin to lean to roughness, enrich, and keep temps around 1380/380. Thanks all. It’s a new engine, so want this sucker to run a good life up to and behind TBO.

    IO-540 Leaning...

I have a Saratoga as well with the JPI 700 monitor. Doing a panel upgrade soon, which will have better engine monitoring. I also have the GAMI injectors. Wish I had the 830...very nice.

    IO-540 Leaning...

just acquired an aircraft with the IO-540 and I have a question on leaning procedures. Is it enough...to simply lean or enriched the mixture when necessary to strive for 1380 EGT and 380 CHT? I’ve read so much on leaning, my head is spinning. Sure was easier back in the old Skyhawk! So my...

    Flight simulators for IFR training

Thanks for that feedback. I’ll hop onboard and experience it. I agree, think it’ll be a huge help to fly in that airspace now that I think about it.

    Flight simulators for IFR training

I have a solid SIM platform that I put together for instrument training but trying different platforms for some live controller interaction. I wanted to like PilotEdge, but doesn’t cover my region. I installed VATSIM, but never find controllers online. Too bad, was excited to use it. Maybe...
