Hey Ya'll, I fly a J-3 Cub (mine) and I fly a pattern pretty close in. I personally say no farther than 1/2 a mile in anything other than something large (King Air's, Lear's etc.). I personally think anyone that teaches 1+ mile away downwinds to students is commiting involuntary manslaughter...

Well if I was still in Pittsburgh (Born and raised!) I would go. Id recommend Rostraver Airport (FWQ) or Finleyville Airport (G05) instead of AGC. I greq up at Finleyville. Great 2500ft airport with some nice people! Clint

Hey Ya'll, (First post so go easy). Anywho as a controller at the 6th busiest airport, I would recommend IFR like everyone has said. (IF you MUST fly into ORD). Not to be rude, but when Im at work, I dont like working pistons unless you do 170kts or greater (as said above) down the localizer...
