    Current loan rates

Another vote for lightstream, have used them twice, super simple both times. Most recently for an antique taildragger with value less than $25k. These are almost impossible to finance with the traditional lenders, and the few that would consider it were a full 1-2% higher than lightstream, with...

    Comfortable Ownership?

certainly, i should have included "Etc." to the end. Or more accurately, the IA does the required items per the Regs. Not sure the reason behind the disbelief here. Plenty of places advertise a flat rate annual for a cub or champ at $800-$1000. It's not unreasonable to assume more than half of...

    Comfortable Ownership?

Ever done an inspection on a champ or cub? Not much to it. I spend the time pulling inspection covers, draining oil, pulling and cleaning spark plugs etc. AI reviews logs, checks ADs, inspects airframe, cuts oil filter, checks timing. $400 is actually a pretty handsome hourly rate for only the...

    Comfortable Ownership?

No, not calculating tools, i like tools as a separate hobby anyway. Parts are minimal on a non-electric antique taildragger. My airplane is on a grass strip a mile from my house. I look at it as a hobby, not business calculation. My time has no "value" when it is recreation/hobby, the...

New plane but cant hear when broadcasting

Sounds like either incorrect or broken wiring of com 1 or internal issue on com 1. Of course your options are limited with Narco if it is internal. I believe sidetone on these is configured via wiring of pins, rather than a setting Sent from my SM-G960U1 using Tapatalk

    Child Restraints

This has been, more or less, my attitude as well. It is this or roll the dice on travelling by car on the busiest travel days of the year (Wednesday and Sunday on either side of Thanksgiving. Flight will also be over the plains of Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas - plenty of flat ground that is also...

    Child Restraints

seat belt over the seat is actually the approved method per the manufacturer for when the base is not used. Granted in this configuration, the seat belt is in a [slightly] different location than in the rear facing configuration. but agree with your premise and will consider alternatives. Thanks!

    Child Restraints

Hey all, Planning the first flight as a family of four, taking the club's PA28-180. No issue with the 2 year olds seat, but the baby's infant seat will not fit in the tight rear seat area of the PA28 in its normal backwards configuration, only forwards as pictured.. I am opening myself up to...

    Annual Due Date

That's exactly how it works. Annual is good until the last day of the month the year after it was inspected. in your case, if you signed off on june 1, annual would be good until june 30, 2019. Many people do this to essentially get a "13 month" annual.

    Cessna Rigging

Final Update: The tank was replaced and the airplane fully re-rigged. Airplane now flies hands off, about 8-10 knots faster and the door no longer interferes with the fuel sump. Both wings appear to be very close to neutral position. I am very pleased with the results.

    Cessna Rigging

Quick update It appears the tank has collapsed in the past due to a clogged vent possibly. Someone tried to “fix” the issue with compressed air, which of course made the tank into a balloon and caused it to swell. Sourcing a replacement tank now. Alex
