    Changing Operating Arcs on Tach

Good luck. They screwed up our order and failed to set the hours or paint it at all. We had already waited 3 weeks at that point so we said F it and painted the face ourselves.

Utah couple crashes while diverting from Shelter Cove

The left turnout may have sealed their fate. Terrain is much steeper that way vs. turning right.

Utah couple crashes while diverting from Shelter Cove

Those mountains are several thousand feet higher than the valley floor and the airport sits in the very west end of the valley. And the wind in the Covelo valley generally blows from the west, straight over and down that range. On a local news website, one anonymous comment said they observed...

Why was it so bumpy? (Weather Explained?)

This was 5PM your local time if my math is correct. 5500MSL looks to be right where the SE flow near the surface switches to SW winds aloft. That usually creates some shear where those layers intersect. The lapse rate down low is 7.5C/km which is pretty steep, too.

    PA-28 down, Florida Treasure Coast

That certainly makes this part of the accident flight more interesting, approximately 2.5 minutes before the wing came off. 600 feet of descent in 5 seconds with a calculated vertical rate of -7200FPM. The airplane gets moving pretty quick (133 kt ground speed) and levels off. I would...

    SFO VFR Coastline Transition

I'll throw in a vote for 'maybe.' Transitioning west of the woodside VOR/SFO at 6500' (and 8500') generally hasn't been an issue and i've been cleared for it several times, but earlier this year there were numerous times controllers denied this per local FB groups. This happened to me back in...

Need some advice, Piper Wing Walk AD

We had an A&P put a piece of metal in there as a doubler to fix our creaky/cracking wing walk. I think it was only 2 or 3 AMUs. They did it through the inspection port for the wingspar stuff.. no wing removal necessary. It was also our A&Ps opinion that deferring a fix wasn't really a big deal..

One seriously injured after airplane crashes into Lake Tahoe

Its hot here so probably very light under a big ridge of high pressure.. Weather models from this morning showed 700MB winds (10K feet) less than 5 knots. https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/sacramento/news/boaters-rescue-2-people-from-water-after-plane-crashes-in-lake-tahoe/ Good thing it was a...

    Weather forecasts aren’t getting better

Agreed. Forecast from 0Z the night before looks pretty good to me.

    Mooney down, Watertown WI

Nearest airport (Dodge County Airport) showed OVC003-OVC005 in the timeframe. ADSB track looks like spatial D with a -6800FPM dive at the end. :(

Plane down near half moon bay. KHAF

I was at the airport that morning and watched that particular airplane take off into the clouds. Such a terrible feeling when I saw the news article later. :(

Don’t you hate that? Forecast for 2O1 was sunny yesterday but it was fogged in all day. Had to settle for an overflight of the northern Sierras.
