    Q? Cirrus SR20 deploys parachute

I was in ACk the other day in the X. They had the remains of the cirus wrapped up in a tarp at one end of the airport. It looked like a Long EZ. All I can say is the guy was lucky he was over land when he pulled the oh crap handle. John

    A new twist on propellers

Looks like the left motor was under power, thus the bent forward blades. When an aircraft gears up, you can tell if it was power on (blades bent forward) or power off (blades bent back). Interesting pictures........ John

    GPS Pilot III update?

Looks like they might have an update. The other day, I just put in the serial number and they said no updates. However, when I go and look for a Pilot III there is this... Due to the rapid growth of database information, the GPS III Pilot Americas-North and Americas-South databases have been...

    GPS Pilot III update?

I just tried to update the database in my old Pilot III GPS. And the Garmen web updater says no updates available. Anyone else have the same experience? John

    396/496 roll steering out put?

Does the 396/496 have a roll steering out put? I read in some discriptions that it can interface with other avionics. How does it / can it, do this? Does it use the PC rs232 cable? I was wondering if it could be more integrated with a panel dock? John

Bight the bullet and go for 430W?

Well, I got two quotes from local shops. One shop sent an e-mail that said "430 with wass installed 14000" and that was it. The other shop was much more detailed and included the removal of my flying V antenna, GPS steering, new com and nav antennas, new indicator, instalation and interfase...

Bight the bullet and go for 430W?

Yea the used market isn't that great since these are in demand. However it looks like I could save 1500 going used with the recent WAAS upgrade. I'm also thinking that WAAS approaches will be more and more common and the WAAS upgrade will be more valuable in the airplane when it comes time to...

I guess Beech doesn't want me as a customer.

I'm not surprised. When I got my Beechjet type there years ago, they acted like we couldn't see anything when we actually got a tour. One guy in my class was the CP for a company and their NEW Beechjet was the second one to be finished while we were there and they barely let him see it. John

Bight the bullet and go for 430W?

So one shop says that no mater what unit I put in, labor is 3K. So then I'm thinking--- Apolo GX50 for 2K plus 3K, done. King 94B for 3.5K plus 3K, done. Well, used 430 with fresh WAAS conversion plus install kit for 6.8K and then 3K for the install. Kinda like, if your gonna do it, you might...

    Kln 89b Gps

That is the route I'm going to go. I'm still waiting for a quote from the 2 local avionics shops. The cheapest is a GX50 that will use the same tray as my Apolo 618. Other options are the 155XL and of course the 94B. John

Oh %great% - drunk flying astronauts

The report I heard was that some were close to and might have gone over the NASA 13 hour limit...... So those people have a longer bottle to throttle than we do. The co. that I fly for used to have a 10 hour limit but eventually changed it to 8. I think it was because we tecniclly couldn't be...
