Bruce and Sue Chien will be flying down to the farm (08MO) this Saturday. :) We'll be hanging out at the farm/flying around if anyone wants to fly in for a visit. :) I'll drag out the parachutes if anyone wants to go upside down.

We will be grilling burgers and hot dogs for supper.

Let me know if you're coming and I'll provide runway conditions. There is a chance of rain tonight and Friday, so if there are any puddles or soft spots I'll let you know. We can always shuttle people back and forth to the Lamar Airport.

Oh, and the last storm blew off one of the balls on the power line on the north end of Runway 36. But, we will be using Runway 3, so it shouldn't be a factor.

leah and i are maybe's, will know more tonight or tomorrow.

If we weren't already planning to head up to Antigo to support Jamie and John...

Well, maybe! :)

I just went upside down, parachute and everything, in a glider and it was great! Too bad you are so far away.

Maybe from me too.

Well, maybe! :)
Y'all come!

For those who want to spend the night we have the guest room in the old farmhouse and the hangar apartment with a sofa bed in the hangar...just let me know. You can also camp here if you want (but it's going to get cold ). We'll feed you breakfast, too. :) We have a courtesy car if you want to stay in town. Bring your swim suit if you want to get in the hot tub.

Disclaimer: We are still remodeling, so the windows in the guest room and the hangar don't have curtains or shades yet.

T.D. you'll be missing the Hastings Nebraska Food Court, Hail this time of year in Sheridan, WY enroute.....Sigh.

I got within 40 nm of meeting TD at Oak Harbor (2000 trip to Alaska) but I just didn't want to eat into that last 30 minutes of fuel. :(

You don't need no steeenking swimsuit for a hot-tub.

Does this mean you have your airplane back together and you're coming? :D

Oh, man, I sure wish I could make that.

I'd even bring my own towel.
I wish you could make it, too. Towels provided. :D

You could fly a simple Citabria again and hopefully not have material for another 'never again' article. ;)

It is a bit far for me, but what is the difference between supper and dinner? I am not sure if I have ever had supper. :dunno:
Good question. :D My husband and I still have this discussion.

Supper is late in the day. Dinner could be in the middle of the day or it could be later in the afternoon or evening. Supper makes it clear that it's later in the day. At least in Missourah. :D

Dinner is after church. Supper is before bed. How could anybody not know that?

Isn't lunch in the middle of the day? I guess an early dinner could be in the afternoon.

Yes, lunch is always in the middle of the day and brunch is earlier than that. Dinner can be either lunch time or supper time. So, are you coming for dinner? You might have to leave now to get here in time for ribs. Or turkey burgers if you come for supper. Breakfast at the farm isn't bad, if my husband fixes it.

It sounds like dinner is an imposter and is trying to horn in on lunch or supper. I am not sure if this cleared anything up, but I am getting hungry. ;)

Forgive me, but :

In the Jewish calendar, each day runs from sunset to sunset, and hence the Last Supper (on the Thursday evening), and Jesus's crucifixion (on Friday afternoon), both fell on the same day. In John, this day was the 14th of Nisan in the Jewish calendar; that is the day on the afternoon of which the Passover victims were sacrificed in the Temple, which was also known as the Day of Preparation. The Passover meal itself would then have been eaten on the Friday evening.

thus the evening meal is Supper.

i'm out. would love to make it but i'm going to be towing in the morning and attempting to soar in the afternoon. sunday i'll be helping my friend paint the wings of his glider so i better fly on saturday.

And we're going to honor our earlier commitment and go to Antigo! Hope all who show up at the Farm have a great time. Diana and Tom are GREAT hosts! Sorry we won't be there!

Sister-in-law's 60th birthday; must attend in Houston.

Plus, Grandmother (105 yrs now) fell, cracked her hip. Also in Houston. She's more worried about her hair-do and the dress she was wearing, so we think she's gonna be OK.

I'll see Twin Oaks some day... y'all have fun!

(sigh)

On the farm, Lunch is at 10 and 3, dinner is at noon and supper is at night.
In our home, we just say Fruestuck, Mittagessen and Abendessen and there is never any doubt. "lunch" in this system is "brotzeit" or "kaffee", depending on if it's morning or evening.
Or, we just specify the time, like, we'll eat at 1200 or 1800 (yes, we actually talk like that at our home, but I spent time in the Army and she grew up using German railway schedules, so it's natural.
Why don't we just switch to the metric system?
I'd like to come but think I'll be soaring at Muscatine, most likely.

I'll try and get there in the Flybaby. I'm planning to do some maintenance tonight that I think I can wrap up in one night, so no promises.

Runway report: We had 1.2 inches of rain last night and there are puddles. Also, there is running water in the taxiway under the twin oaks. We will have a blustery day, which should help. We suggest that any tri-gear airplanes land at Lamar and we'll come get you. I'm hoping that taildraggers will be okay by noonish tomorrow. I'll post conditions this evening and in the morning. I *could* get the Citabria out today, but it sure would make a mess.

Awww, aren't you sweet!

Maybe next time. :)

I hope you can make the next fly-in. Or, stop by on your way to/from Gaston's.

That would be great if you could make it! Food will be better this time since Tom will be home. :D You are welcome to stay the night if you want.

That sounds pretty complicated! :D

Why don't we just switch to the metric system?

Oh, my...where is the pot-stirring smilie? :D

Have fun!

I just looked at the satellite images of 08MO on Google Earth; You've got one heck of a private airfield there! I envy you like crazy. I've been trying desperately to squeeze one in on my farm, but it just won't work for most aircraft. I'd need a Zenith or something like that. :( Wish I could fly-in and meet ya'll, but I'm busy getting ready for my Com. Multi add-on checkride, and I'd be nervous flying in there with a 172. I guess I really need to get my tailwheel soon.

Diana said she'd be willing to pick folks up at Lamar and reccomended folks with tri-gear airplanes do just that. I'm intending on taking my 172 into Lamar.

I've taken a 182 in there before without difficulty, but, as she posted earlier, the field conditions are a tad wet at the moment.

Yep. We'll come get folks at LLU. Just let us know. :)

Cool! You're coming. :)

So, we need to get some kind of head-count from everyone for tomorrow. Who is coming, when, how many meals, and who is spending the night. :)

Diana, 03 still pretty soggy I gather.....(?)
The runway isn't too bad now, but the taxiway under the oak trees has soft spots and there is also standing water where you crossed east of that when you parked at the tie down area last time. It may be better by noon tomorrow, but I'd recommend landing at Lamar for now. I can get the Citabria in and out okay now.
