Sorry need to vent and hopefully exorcise this tune out of my head.

If you remember a show from the late 60's called the Banana Splits (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062543/) it had a catchy theme song. For some reason today that song is going through my head. For the last hour all I have heard is

" Tra la la, la la la la.
Tra la la, la la la la.
Tra la la, la la la la.
Tra la la, la la la la.

One banana, two banana, three banana, four.
Four bananas make a bunch and so do many more.
Over hill and highway the banana buggies go
Comin' on to bring you The Banana Splits Show.

Makin up a mess of fun
Makin up a mess of fun
Lot's of fun for everyone.

Tra la la, la la la la.
Tra la la, la la la la.
Tra la la, la la la la.
Tra la la, la la la la.

Four banana, three banana, two banana, one.
All bananas playing in the bright warm sun.
Flippin like a pancake, poppin like a cork
Fleagle, Bingo, Drooper and Snork.

Tra la la, la la la la.
Tra la la, la la la la.
Tra la la, la la la la.
Tra la la, la la la la"

AAARRRGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the MP3 if you want it. It's on a "Cartoon Music" CD that I own.

Hey, I still like that song!!

I sing it to my kids for a laugh. They think it's hysterical.

La la la, la-la la la, la la la la-la la-la laaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Scott. Now I have that damn song in my head and the images of those stupid animals riding around that amusement park.

nice. It's stuck in my head now too. But it replaced something worse, so it's all good.
Can anyone post the song? I haven't heard it in many years.

It was and you know for some reason the song is out of my head. I take it, it is in yours??:D;)

That would be correct. Lets see...what have I got on itunes....?:fcross:

WOW! As soon as I read, "Banana Splits" in Scott's original post I instantly recalled that song in it's entirety even though it must've been decades since I've heard it.

Thanks for spreading the joy, Scott.

"Bananas in Pajamas"- that's good ol' Australian kid programming.

That "Banana Splits" thing is old! I remember it because the original show had the intro filmed at Six Flags Over Texas.

No problem. Just take a deep breath and repeat after me:

It's a small world after all ...
See? It's gone! :D (Just like medicine, sometimes the cure is worse than the disease.)

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D

What you need is a nice dose of the theme songs from Combat!, The Rat Patrol, and 12 O'Clock High. (And Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons, and Thunderbirds, and Fireball XL 5!)

At least the lyrics are easy to remember ...

All superb TV theme songs. My favorite was The Rat Patrol. Can you imagine Hollywood producing shows like that today?

Now THIS is the best TV show theme song of all time.

In the early 90's I was the invited guest of the Director of the Liaoning Provincial Telecommunication Authority for dinner. We had a very nice meal in the Communist compound, yes some pigs are more equal, and then broke for kareoke. This is my least favorite thing on the planet to do. The Director asked me to sing an American song and the only one that I could remember all the lyics to was this song.

So there I was deep in the heart of Northern China, in the Communist compound eating dinner with a high provincial official and I was singing.....'Just sit right back and you'll hear a tail...."

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Utterly sureal!

The words were bad enough in text. The audio, just

From this thread, I now have lifelong psychological scars and "issues".

Wow - that stuff really goes a loooong way back - I still remember watching the show - I was around 5 years old back then.
I lived in Europe at the time - I think it was dubbed...

What a memory...

If that's not enough (or to rub salt in the wound, I'm not sure which), the site that hosts that .mp3 has a LOT of other cartoon theme songs. It's the anthology of cartoons....

Yes, Roger Ramjet is listed...

Yea. and it just gets worse.

I had to go to the grocery store, so I step out in the apartment hallway going hmmmmmm mmmmm mmm MMMMM MMM mmm MMM mmm and acting fairly goofy. I lock the door and turn around. No on is ever in the hallway around here...except for today when the English girl from upstairs is halfway up the steps from outside stopped in her tracks looking at me like I'd lost my mind.
Oh well. :dunno:

Blessed are the cracked for they shall let in the light.
Normal.

Dear Scott:

It's BAAACCCKKKK!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7567840.stm

Fleegle, Bingo, Drooper and Snorky are to star in new comedy shorts and music videos on the Cartoon Network in the US, and its website, from September.

A series of DVDs, live concerts, music CDs, and online games from the anarchic crew are expected to follow.

"Everything that made The Banana Splits popular in the '60s is back, including the group's terrific humour and music," said Jordan Sollitto, of Warner Bros.

Scott, it's everywhere.

They showed the opening on WGN Morning News this A.M.

Musta been because of the new show story

if anyone cares, there was a really great Punk Band started in 77 but really made it in the 80s called The Dickies. They did a cover of the banana splits theme song that was, at least in my opinion, more enternaining than the original.

Anyone seen the AWESOME 80s movie KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE?
They did the theme song to that. But they did the original for that rather than a cover as is the case w/ banana splits. I couldnt find out how to upload them like some people above me, but Both are youtubeable.

The Dickies - Banana Splits
The Dickies - Killer Klowns from outer space

Is it just me or do the "Tra La's" in the Banana Splitz intro sound a lot like the refrain in Bob Marley's Buffalo Soldiers?

Coincidence? I think not.

YEAH!!!!!

I was watching an episode not too long ago

I tell you I was very disappointed in another kids show redux. That was the Speed Racer movie.

The first gen cartoon was still the best!!

Worse than Scott's many spelling errors is his tendency to dredge up his old threads. Worse than that is his dredging up THIS thread!

Maybe the mods can suspend Scott for this severe lack of concern for the reader.

i just some great ideas for valentines day gifts...
