Memorial Day Plans??

Our EAA Chapter is hosting the Ford Tri Motor from 5/24-5/29 at Gwinnett Briscoe Field, Lawrenceville, GA (KLZU) so I'm likely to be there working through the weekend.

I am spending too much already on airplanes this month (lessons and flights). Plus who knows what the PHL POA fly-in will cost in the end. Most likely no flying for me on / around Memorial Day. Also I have a pilot coming early June to the area. However, we rarely get a day off work so perhaps I should book a plane on the holiday. Not sure if the flight school is open though and they DON'T have a lock box.

Probably headed to the in laws lake house. Maybe I'll skip it this year and just sleep!

For me, it depends on whether the annual is done by then (it was supposed to be done last month, but my mech had some medical issues and now I'm not sure what the reason is, but he hasn't started on it).

But if the airplane is flyable, I will probably find somewhere up north I haven't been and go cyclotouring. Two years ago I did a day trip up to Beaver Island on Mem Day weekend. Come to think of it I never did ride more than the first few hundred yards on the Donegal Trail. Hmmm...

Up to Friday Harbor for a reunion with some fellow old Kodiak Air Station alums. The key to these events is to never be the first one to tell a story of the worst weather flown or hairest hoist you've ever done.... :wink2: I'm working on a formula to compute wind speed by the amount of beer imbibed. :D

I don't know what you could teach me about flying. It sounds like you got a 73% score on your written so, are you even a pilot, or still a student pilot. You are coming on pretty strong for this group and don't pick on the gals on this forum because we like them on here. When you get a license, if you ever do. Check back with us!:wink2:

Now my plans will be to fly down to the Owyhee airstrp and see some friends at the Owyhee Hilton Hotel. A bunch of pilots fly in each year about this time.

If I'm not flying for filthy lucre, I'm going to try to fly my Mooney to Chilhowee and be jealous of the gliders flying there.

The grass is always greener, huh?
Kind of a "you can't do everything" thing.
Never did ridge soaring when I was active in gliders, and that's something Chilhowee offers. Maybe someday.
You have gotten yourself into an activity that has so many possibilities...

The whole reason I got into it. Went formation flying on Saturday. Now THAT was different than anything I've ever done. Was a passenger.

When were you at Kodiak?
