I don't think I've posted much on here, but if I have, excuse me if I repeat myself.
The first of the year, a fella that has been trying to get a partner in a King Air asked if I would be interested in flying it. I was and reached an agreement with him to lease block time. After going to KA initial training at SIMCOM and flying with someone qualified in the plane for ten hours, I was insured.
Since then, the owner decided to sell. Today, he and I shook hands on a deal for me to purchase the plane the end of this month. Waiting for a contract. :D

I say me, but I'll form an LLC to own it.

Best,

Dave

Congrats Dave, well deserved.

Very cool, Dave. You'll have to show it off next time we're in KADS.

Wow that's an upgrade! C-90s are fun birds. Congrats! So are you going to fly that to Gastons now? :D

Nah. Insurance rules.
Although I'll pick Dave up at Mountain Home and he can schlum into Gaston's.....

Congratulations!

There is nothing like a King Air. Best airplane ever made.

Wow nice bird, Dave!

Oh wait, I forgot the populist comment...

Congrats you "evil capitalist", you. ;)

That's great, Dave! I can't wait to see her!

AWESOME, congrats!! I'm going to go get my AMEL so I can safety pilot for you. Already plan to get my CP rating by end of May instead of doing the BFR for PP.

nice! let me know when you're coming to wichita for Flight Safety.

Congrats, Dave, very good choice.

Can't wait to see her next time I'm in Dallas.

It was only a matter of time.... ;)

Nice going, Dave. I share a hangar with a C-90.

Nice! Should be easier to fly than most piston twins-you won't have to worry about getting slam dunked and shock cooling the engines.

Flew this morning in great IMC weather for practice approaches. Great plane. Still a lot of things I have to get used to but a wonderful, stable platform with great manners <g>
I'll try to post more tonight or tomorrow when I can.

Best,

Dave

Close but no cigar, Nate. The proper, AIM-approved phraseology is:
Dear Dave,

You suck.

Love,

Everyone at POA

how does it run LOP??

It's a turbine. It's always running LOP!

Congratulations, Dave! That's a very nice upgrade. I've been flying Cheyennes and Commanders recently, and the turbine world is a fun one.

Inquiring minds want to know - what will happen to the P-Baron? I recall you had an appointment set for sending it in for the new engines.

Mazel Tov Dave!!! Thats great! I am very happy for you and we can finally say that the POA LOGO does in fact represent planes flown by POA posters!!:D

I'm planning on going to Gaston's. Don't see much probability that the KA will land there. We'll see as I get to know the bird better. As Bruce said, Mountain Homes is probably better for it. Doesn't mean we can't give folks rides!
Right now, I'd like to get a partner in the KA. If I do, I'm leaning toward keeping the 58P. If now, I'll probably have to let the Baron go. We have the money side funded to do the engines, so, the new engines should still get done.

Well, seeing as that's a KA-200 and Dave is buying a 90, Wayne is still the only PoA poster who flies the logo.

Sounds like a good plan. As much as I am enjoying turbines for certain missions and trips (such as a few weeks ago when I needed to traverse 2200 nm in one day), I still believe that piston aircraft represent a better value and fit for a number of missions.

That said, you may end up like my friend who bought a Cheyenne about a year and a half ago after owning an Aztec for 20 years. He still flies the Aztec a couple of times per year - just enough to remember why he likes the Cheyenne better. ;)

I'm thinking we all need to pitch in and get Dave a GoProHD. :)

Here's a link to the listing on the Controller. It may still work. It's an older C-90 (1976) but well cared for. Reasonable manner to step into turbine country for me. My mechanics recently did a hot section. With that, the phase I and II and gear inspections, there isn't any large predictable expense in the near future <g>.

The auto pilot is wandering a bit; looking at that and the Garmins aren't WAAS; so, I'll probably get them in quickly for that upgrade.

It's nice to fly a plane 20 hours before deciding whether to buy it <g>

Dave

I'll second Dave's plane as being a nice one. I represented the prior owner during his search in Dec 2007, and found this one for him. The guy my client bought it from thought he would own it forever and spent a pile of money on the panel. It's the nicest one you're likely to find on a 76 C-90. Also has -21 engines, a must-have (IMO) if you're buying a vintage C-90.

Dave, combine the WAAS upgrades with an Aspen or a G-600 and then you're really styling. ;)

Looks like a beautiful plane. Definitely a great panel, pretty similar to the Cheyenne that I fly from time to time. Are the engines on MORE?

The "thought they would keep it forever" owners are usually the best to get a plane from. The 310 is certainly in good shape for that reason. The Aztec will be good for its next owner as well, same reasons.

Nice bird, Dave! Congrats! Which Simcon facility did you go to? Im assuming it was Dallas.

What an absolutely gorgeous bird! Where are you going to hangar it?

I fly the 200 for a living.(PC12 also). Been a long time since I flew the 90, but I don't think there is any such thing as a bad King Air. They wouldn't still be building them if there were.

Good luck with it.

Thanks Wayne. I appreciate some of your coaching on this.
