Attached (in Word Format) is a flyer announcing our fly-in coming-out party on December 3, 2011 in Port Aransas on Mustang Island, Texas.

It would be great if you could post this at your local FBOs.

Thanks in advance!

Is this a new motel, in addition to the one we were discussing in an earlier thread?

I can't book it...

A.) You're searching for Mustang Island State Park, which is 20 miles south of us.

B.) Amelia's Landing doesn't exist yet, so you won't find it on any search engine! We're still the Harbor Inn for another week or so.

C.) Booking on-line is rarely wise. Competent hoteliers will always, always, ALWAYS rather give YOU, our customer, the 15% "commission" that those on-line booking engines extort from us. :wink2:

Poke around on-line, but you will almost always do better to call the hotel itself. (Note: NOT the reservation-mills the big chains use to herd people their way; look up the local number of the hotel, and talk to the manager/owner.)

Not sure which thread you're talking about, but we are finally ready to come out as an aviation themed hotel, after 21 months of work. The inn is currently called The Harbor Inn; we are finally renaming it Amelia's Landing, which has been the plan from Day One. (Amelia's Landing, Inc. has been our corporate name since we opened in April 2010.)

I'll post it today Jay on the outside ( very very outside ) chance someone from my neck of the woods would go. But heck perhaps it will put a bug in someones head for a spring vacation destination

Actually, we've got people streaming onto the island from up by you right now. The island is a popular destination for "Winter Texans" -- retired folks who simply can't stand the thought of another winter Up North.

They come from Thanksgiving, and usually leave around March 1st. In the winter, we open the hotel up to these folks, renting some of the rooms by the month for a very low rate. (Just $500/month, for the single queens.) They don't receive the amenities of the overnight guests (no breakfast in the room; no daily maid service) -- but they are generally very-low-impact guests.

We just had one check in today -- an early arrival. Interestingly, he's the retired tour bus driver for Stephen Stills, of CSN fame. I'm looking forward to some VERY interesting conversations with him...

I hope it goes well for everyone. I'd love to come, but we'll be in Finland during that time.

How fitting it would feel to me to fly to Amelia's Landing for its renaming bash... but not to be. Hope it's a super party and you make lots of new frequent-flier friends.

Do I need to give you a credit card number now? :D

You could just change your name to Harbor Inn to commemorate the event.

Just to bump this up, we are now just one week away from party time!

Pencil us in for Saturday, December 3rd -- free food, beverage, and transport to/from the Mustang Beach Airport (KRAS) await!

Jay, do you have room for boats on trailers in your parking lot? Some buddies if mine have an annual fishing trip and we trailer down a boat.

I'm going to see if a student wants to do a fun cross-country. Not holding my breath at this point.

Well it now appears that I may be able to stop by sometime late Saturday afternoon.

Ryan

Someone who has reserved for the party emailed us today, asking some questions about airport pickup and such that I *thought* were answered on our website.

Amazingly, they were not. Somehow I completely forgot to mention some very important details that our fly-in guests need to know!

The emailer suggested that I create a "Pilot's" page -- so I did. Here it is: http://ameliaslanding.com/for_pilots.htm

(If you have any suggestions for additions to that page, please let me know. What do you want to see there?)

I hope to see you guys this Saturday! We're expecting anywhere from 20 to 400 people (the party is open to the public, and up on the big sign out front!)

I'll be arriving late Friday afternoon. I booked a 1/2-day bay fishing charter for Saturday morning (leaving from Fisherman's Wharf at 6:30 am). I'll be back in plenty of time for the cookout at 2 pm. Might even have some fish for the grill!

Looking forward to it!!

Sounds like a good time - if money were no object I'd be flying down there. Unfortunately it is, so in Nebraska I'll remain.

Can't make it, Murphy and I will be freezing our butts off in gliders over Boulder if the whole thing isn't called off for weather and or miserable cold on Saturday.

My first unpowered flight in about a decade...

flying with Mile High or Soaring Society of Boulder?

I may be flying in tomorrow if yall have an open room. My dad probably wont be joining me because regardless of which day it is looking like fairly solid IMC.

That's not predicted for here, that I've seen.

Sure, c'mon down. The room you've booked for Saturday only is still open for Friday, at this point.
