Cherokee 140 and 180 pictures?

Do any of y'all have a particular Cherokee 140, 160, or 180 that you'd like to have made famous (well, mildly so) as a paint scheme on a model? If so, please post photos here. I'm working on a model kit paint scheme and am looking for some nice paint schemes, and I'd also like to do a couple of "plain Jane" schemes - so if you want your bird, or one you like done, I'll consider it. No promises of course, but I may use 3-4.

My 140 has the new Archer paint scheme in Red, Gold and White. I get a lot of comments on it.

These are pictures of my old Cherokee 140 I found on the net. I sold it over ten years ago when I bought the Tiger, so these must be with the new owner.

Not sure if it gets more plain jane than mine! And it's not a 140,160 or 180. It's a 150.

One more thing. If you have more than one picture, please post more. A side view in particular would he helpful for making sure that markings are accurate. Also, if there are any special markings, or for instance stripes on the wing, or underside, I'd like to know.

Here are the factory schemes for the models you listed. Sounds like you're modeling the versions with the blunt, metal cowl (i.e., pre-Cherokee "C").

Cherokee 140s kept the blunt cowl through the end of production in 1977, but after 1971 the cowl inlets were restyled, dorsal fin was enlarged and rudder restyled, and in 1974 the windows were restyled, so those would not fit.

I have the original factory brochures for most of these, so if you need more photos, let me know.

Is that intended to be camouflage, for when you park the plane next to the glide slope transmitter?

Why do I not own it anymore? I only flew it for just under 20 hours the last year I owned it... getting to fly my friend's new RV-8 kinda ruined me forever

Or why was it repainted? I sold it once in 2005, and the new owner had it repainted blue and white... a "normal" airplane paint scheme. The 30-year old checkerboard paintjob had almost as much aluminum shining thru as it did orange and white when you got up close. I bought the airplane back after the fellow I sold it to tragically perished in the crash of a twin engine Cessna, and I kept it for 5 more years, then sold it again last March.

Or why was it painted orange and white checkerboard in the first place? It was painted that way in 1973 presumably to attract attention, and used for a short time as a banner towing plane. It wore those colors until late 2005, and I gave it the nickname "The CheckerBird".

I loved that Cherokee. It was my first plane to own, and the plane in which I really learned what it meant to be a pilot. Now it's passed down to another new pilot who I hope will enjoy flying it for many years.
