Weather looks great, temps in the mid 50s. Anyone for Pueblo and the museum?

sadly, I'm obligated to help my son and daughter-in-law move to their new apartment.
Happily, my son and daughter-in-law are moving into their new apartment! :D

I'm free, don't know if I need to see the museum again but lunch is good.

I've never been to the museum before. Plus, they've done lots of work on it the past few months.

Lunch is good - noon-ish?

I'll plan on it and check in the morning.

Mari, you need a ride?

wow! Mari gets an offer to ride in the Jabiru! (sorry about spelling!)

Sorry, previous commitment. And its going to be a beautiful day to fly!

I'll be taking my Instrument Written at 10 AM... so list me as an "maybe but unlikely"?

The Frankenkota is full of gas so it's ready to go. Unless something comes up I'll shoot for being at FTG about 10 for a noonish PUB arrival. Not so sure 'bout walking through the museum again...it's good to do once but repeats...well maybe not so much.

PUB, not GXY....

Wha? An hour to take the exam? If so, you really haven't spent enough time memorizing trivia...

Hey a ride in the Jabiru would be fun but it would take me as long to drive to FNL (where I think I heard you are from) as to drive to PUB since I live near Elizabeth.

We could go around the patch in PUB. :D

Wouldn't have to be FNL. I could pick you up at APA or FLY (00V).

FLY, what a cool identifier for an airport. I didn't know it had been changed! APA is closer for me but I know some people are not fond of it so I could drive to FLY. I looked up the directions on Google Maps. Let me know what you want to do and what time. It takes about 35 min for me to drive to APA and about an hour to FLY. I don't mind driving an hour. That's what it is out to FTG where I have been getting rides from Clark and Murphey.

APA is fine. About 11 at the Jet Center.

I love crashing these Colorado threads, now as a non-resident. :D

I used to live very close to APA, but had the Tiger based at FTG as I could get a hangar there. So, I'd go to FTG get the Tiger and fly to APA to pick up passengers. Great airport!

I like APA too but it has been my home for 22 years through 2 different jobs. I occasionally hear someone say that they don't like flying in there because it is "too busy". Even years ago there was a lot of training traffic. More recently it has a lot of business airplanes but probably not on a Saturday.

True, it could get busy, but being in the pattern with a B-17 or Spitfire was pretty cool.

No Go for me, low clgs. Plus the prediction is for increasing clouds and snow today. I guess I will just have to go skiing instead :rolleyes2:.

I've never had any problems with APA. I started training there so it's a no-brainer for me. Besides, the tower appreciates the fact that most of the locals use 10-28 and keeps out of the way of the big boys.

Is it just me, or is everyone getting this pop-up on just page 1 of just this thread?

Yep. I'm getting it to. Maybe its a Colorado thing. LOL.

Oh... the PUB weather I copied in my post is from pilotbrief.com which is the WSI subscription website. But I just copied it, I didn't link to it. I'll try deleting the weather part.

Ha! And I was gonna blame Nate! :)

Have a great flight, folks - time for me to start slogging boxes. Maybe if I load, some of their buddies will off-load, since they're moving to a 2nd floor apartment.

Have fun y'all.
The 6 is still in the shop. I checked on it yesterday and the panel is just a spaghetti mess of wire sticking out of the radio stack. Sounds like it should be done on Wednesday, though.
Maybe we'll be up for a Feb luncheon.

Well I ended up going skiing instead, and it was a good decision. Here is the visibilty @ 9700msl (keep in mind Rabbit Ears Pass is 9400msl)

And the chair lift had a nice coating of rime...

Definitely a better day to be on the mountain rather than trying to fly over it!

Wasn't bad today although going it at noon they were using both tower freqs. Plus they weren't sure what a Jabiru was. Tower just used the N-number, no name. Ground asked on the way out.

Got a tour of Everskywards Cessna. Not bad for a low wing.:D Calgary in 2 hours.

Not sure if it is the same for other AWOS but Mt Werner says OVC200 when in reality it is in the cloud. Today at about noon the bases were at 9700 (per phone GPS derived altitude (Mt Werner is at 10300msl)). My personal min for attempting Rabbit Ears is a clg no lower than 400 reported at Mt Werner. That gives me 1000' agl and 500' below the clouds.

BTW I really want to make one of these as I am super interested to check out Eric's new Jab!!
Here's a pic.

They called you "Experimental" when I was taxiing out behind you. :)

That was me waving like an idiot from the red and white Skyline in the run-up area. ;-)

I did three T&Gs at APA then "chased" you over to FTG (not really meaning to). Was testing the AI and ADF. Both acted wonky. AI is still flopping around like a dead fish. ADF didn't do a very good job of finding SKIPI until I wiggled the Rec/ADF switch. Poor thing is wearing out.

Put my dad's house into Foreflight via GPS coordinates and took some photos for him, then back to APA.

Small world, ran into the CFII I'm going to use for the Instrument. He was teaching a new multi student and the Seminole is across from our hangar. Talked for a bit about getting started on the Instrument and met his partner. Cool.

I don't think I've noticed before but you might be right. I don't recall any OVC000 from an AWOS.
