Does anyone watch the History Channel TV show "Pawn Stars"?? Well, I have kinda gotten hooked on it lately and on one show the family buys an awful Warrior that had basically been left to bake out in the Las Vegas sun and get it airworthy again. Fun to watch! B) Some flying at the end!

The part about the Warrior starts at 3:00. :D

Yeah, I saw it when it aired a couple of weeks ago.

They evidently found some used engine with over 1000 hours to stuff in it. Not sure I'd want to buy that thing. :dunno:

Pretty awesome show. They bought a glider once too. They seem to have an interest in all things aviation.

Thanks for posting, I'll have to check out the video as I had not seen this episode yet. I do watch that show from time to time. They had a guy selling a really nice motorhome right as I was asking about rentals here. That got me thinking that I might be able to buy something used for not a lot of money.

What I do like is when they buy something they get it restored. When they had the glider they took it to experts and seem to know that aviation is not something you just kludge together.

in reality they bought a junker glider then bought a good glider for the final of the show. at least according to the locals.

$6,500 + $21,000 - $27,500 which for this bird, old radios, is about what it's worth.

Didn't make any $$s.

BS they made plenty of money. just not on the plane. I bet they get paid pretty handsomely by Discovery for each show they produce.

The show is like an updated "Antique's Road Show" where they are buying/selling stuff that a 'normal' person might actually give a rip about.

It's funny seeing the people come in saying "This is King Arthur's jock strap. It is worth $15,000." Then they find out that it's really Rosie Odonnel's jock strap and isn't worth a dime. *Cue the Price is Right 'loser' music - Wa Wa Waaaaaa*

They do get some interesting stuff in there sometimes - I saw a bail bondsman pawning the gold coin of a guy that had jumped bail. He ended up covering the $50,000 bond plus some walking around cash out of the deal.

They did lose a little credibility when they bought and rebuilt an old Jeep CJ7. It was a disgrace of a rebuild.

Fixed that for you... :-D

I do think it's an awesome show. I have several episodes backlogged on my DVR at the moment waiting for me to get a chance to watch them.

QFT!!!

I was in the background of one of these "Reality Shows" (Driving Force) and the Force daughters made pretty good money off of A&E for each episode filmed.

Wow, that's gotta be the first time I've ever seen the phrase "things that can make them money" substituted for the word "aviation"

I saw that and thought the same thing. They ruined it.

They were also called to try to deal on a large suposedly WWII era aircraft that they turned down. Can't remember what it was but I agreed with their decision.

At the other end of the spectrum: There was a show on one of the Discovery Channel knock-offs where a group of big aggressive guys would tear things to pieces with their bare hands. On the only episode I bothered to watch, they destroyed a Cessna 172. It was pretty painful to see, but the best part was when one of them ripped the rudder from its hinges (or something similar) and it hit him in the face as it came off. He got a pretty nasty cut - serves him right...

Its worse than that Bruce they said they had $21,500.00 in the plan, Subract $6,500 purchase price and $3000 interior and that leaves $12,000 for the engine and new windsheld AND Paint. I say NO WAY

i wouldnt have touched that plane! $6500 wasnt a bad price, but that plane was a mess! what a disaster... But i do like that they fixed it up! got one more back in the air!!!

i wonder if there are any logs...
