I won't be taking any more of them, but wow, the vivid dreams and nightmares sure make a person feel tired the next day. Has anyone else had this problem with Hydrocodone?

I call them "adventure dreams" and I'm never sure if I'm tired from getting no sleep or from running from those guys all night. Or chasing them.

I like to stay away from that stuff. My wife has been taking it for her back pain and she doesn't mention nightmares short of having to lie next to me all night. ;)

BTW, how is the shoulder doing? Been doing your pendulums and wall walking?

I've never even had so much of a dream with hydrocodone.

Never had nightmares while on the Hydro.

Other side effect, yes, but not that one.

Hope you're doing better, Diana.

:D That's funny. :D

Yep, been doing those and the boat-rowing one, too. PT will be three times a week for four weeks, to start with. Hopefully we'll be done by then.

Hope you're doing better, Diana.
Thanks, Kevin. :) It's hard reading about everyone else out having fun right now. Although, I'd be happy with a good night's sleep at this point.

I had foot surgery in May and I had three days of nightmares when I stopped taking it. Weird stuff!

Diana,

Same thing happened to me. Vivid, psychedelic, and intense.

Yep, that's how they were. One was a bizarre dream that would have made a good/bad science fiction movie with aliens from outer space, and the next night there was weird voodoo stuff going on...they both were violent and very real and weren't going to have a happy ending unless I woke up first.

She said Hydrocodone, not LSD :D

Haven't had any hydrocodone for two days now. Slept MUCH better last night. No tellin'. :dunno:

Now is the time of rehab grit. Sigh.
It was time for a mental health day (I've been crabby...poor Tom), so Tom took me flying and I rode in back and we got the courtesy car at Pittsburg and went out to eat. I flew home from the front seat with him as my safety pilot in back. I'm not crabby anymore, even if I hurt more now from getting in and out of the airplane. :)

Glad you got some lift under your wings. That's always therapeutic!

Nightmares are listed as a rare but possible side effect for hydrocodone.

It really was vivid. :D And in color! Only people who had blue auras could see the aliens (it was a curse to have a blue aura in this instance  ) and knew what was going on as the earth was being attacked. The little alien babies were in little psychedelic colored balls that had things in them that looked like insects. Only me and this guy who had a blue aura could see them. There were explosions everywhere as the earth was being attacked and it looked like there was no hope of survival. I woke up and was afraid to go back to sleep...it seemed pretty real.

You know, when UFOs land, they land at isolated farms like ours, according to most movies.

Can I buy the movie rights? :ihih: We could film it at your farm.

:D Do you have a blue aura? :D

When I woke up from the nightmare, the night air was still and damp. The window was open and the only sounds for miles around were hundreds of crickets intermingled with the chorus of frogs in the pond across the road and the sounds of pears occasionally dropping to the ground from the orchard outside the window. It was almost eerie.

Yes, I do.

And it wasn't pears... it was footsteps. ;-)

Very cool, glad you were able to get into the air

Hang in there Diana. Things will get better. Tom is doing you proud.

Have you considered anesthesia as a cause? It takes several days for it to completely leave your body.
Well, I had wondered about that, too.

For me Hydrocodone's #1 Side effect is Constipation.
That will make one very Crabby.
This is true. :D

Thanks a bunch! :D Actually, possums walking through the leaves in the dark of night sound like what one would suspect that people creeping around through the leaves in the dark of night would sound like. Reminds me of a story of three women in the hot tub, but....never mind. ;)

Was the dream like this?
Sorta, but the people were better looking. ;)

My GF had this problem last night, being on Tylenol 3. She said it was pretty creepy.

Never taken hydrocodone, but took vicodin and had a nightmare that my wisdom teeth got pulled out, and it was a 2 hour deal.

No wait, backwards. I had the wisdom teeth pulled out (2 hour deal), then took the vicodin. No problems, worked like candy. Only made me a little drowsy, kinda like how I'm feeling right now.

I then had a nightmare about some blood-sucking girl... no, wait, I'm confusing dreams and reality again. ;)

That sounds like a good story. ;)

Well, I had just one more, but it was mild and then no more. Probably the anesthesia or hydrocodone...I'm glad it wasn't a permanent state.

It was about King Kong. He crashed our party (a fly-in) and was messing stuff up. He was obnoxious and clumsy more than anything. So, I asked him to leave. My friend took me aside and said "That wasn't very nice...you hurt his feelings." So I said, "You have high ceilings, YOU take him home."

Then Tom and I flew to Lamar in separate airplanes. I was following him in the Citabria. I happened to glance out the window and noticed the right wheel was displaced and was sitting at a 90° angle from the gear leg (King Kong must have done that). It seemed like that would make for a rough landing and I couldn't figure out how to straighten it out before touchdown. I looked up from fixating on the askew wheel and almost ran right into Tom on short final. Then I made a nice landing and King Kong was gone and all was right with the world again. :)

And no more nightmares. The End. :)

So it was really the nice landing that ended the nightmares. Good thing it turned out that way.

Vicodin contains hydrocodone and acetaminophen.

In that case, I haven't had nightmares on hydrocodone.

That sounds like a good story. ;)

Oh, there are lots of good stories about the various ones who meet that description. ;)

My wife got addicted to Percoset once. She was on it for awhile with back problems. She stopped taking it, and woke up that night in a panic, with the shakes and sweats. I said "you're going through withdrawal you junkie!". OK, not the nicest thing, but it was the middle of the night. We tapered it off a bit and she came out of it just fine.

I have occasional neck pain and take Lortab as needed when having a flare-up.

I had a doozy of a dream a year ago involving an evil Patrick Swayze and his pack of aliens who had hidden their secret plans in the cable box attached to the tv in my hotel room. They of course needed to eliminate me because of my knowledge of their nefarious plot against humanity.

My hotel room was 30+ floors up. After the alien teleported me onto the exposed framework of the hotel exterior, Swayze's Jackie Chan-like moves jumping around from floor to floor on steel girders in his attempt to kill me were super-human!

An alarm then started sounding loudly, alerting all in the hotel to the danger I was in outside. At that time I woke up, still safely in my tent at Boy Scout camp, the wakeup alarm on my phone still ringing loudly next to my ear, LOL.

I have no idea where that dream came from. I was not a Patrick Swayze fan. I hadn't consciously thought of him in years, nor given much thought to the possible existence of alien life forms.

I never thought about the Lortab as a causative agent until reading this thread, because I never before had any dreams like that one before when on it, nor have I since.

That was one of the weirdest dreams I ever had.

Sky Blue. :D BTW, no more nightmares. Whew.
Diana,

Did the hydro take care of the pain OK?

I thought when I met you a Gaston's that there may be a lot of stuff going on in that head of your's.:happydance: (mostly good, it looked like to me) Probably more than even you thought possible?

Glad you are sleeping more peacefully now and hope the PT goes really well.

Rick

So Diana what's the latest update on your progress. Nursing my wife through recovery from a partial knee replacement last Thursday and it made me think of how you were coming along.

I switched to Darvocet with no more nightmares. :)

Yeah...lots of stuff going on. :D Sometimes when I give rides all day at Gaston's, I pull into my shell so that I can stay focused.

Glad you are sleeping more peacefully now and hope the PT goes really well.
Thanks Rick. :)

Thanks for asking. :) I hope she's doing well. Hope you guys aren't getting flooded out.

My expectations were misplaced and I was assuming that it wouldn't hurt much by this point. I was wrong again. And, as soon as one exercise doesn't hurt so much, the therapist adds one that does. :D I guess that's called progress. :D

Actually, he gave me a little lecture the other day about maybe not trying to do too much, too soon in terms of activities. So, it might be a while before I can get in and out of the CJ-6 cockpit. You really need to have some arm strength to be able to lift yourself out...but maybe that's only for short people. :D Lance probably didn't have any problems with that. :D
