I can't believe she paid $10k up front for a PPL that should only cost her $6500.00 tops in the St.Louis area.
...10k should get you a PPL and well into a inst rating.

In a weird coincidence I was at KALN the other day, at West Star. I looked around briefly for this place but I didn't see it. Things were really quiet at the airport. I think I saw only 3 airplanes come in to the FBO and two of them were ours.
