Barb and I are thinking about flying down to Cedar Mills, TX for lunch this Sunday. Anyone want to join us? If Barb can't make it, I may just fly down by myself.

Local lunch committee remains on red alert.

:D

Do you know of any grass strips with fuel in the area? Or north between Cedar Mills and Mc Alester?

It looks like it will be pretty cool here Sunday morning. I hope I can coax the Citabria into starting...she has a new cylinder and mineral oil and seems to start more sluggishly.

Diana: I just got the latest issue of "Flight Training" yesterday. Congrats on being the featured aviator (or aviatrix). Thank you for all you do to promote aviation. Texas is too far for me in a 150. Enjoy lunch.

That'd be fun. Too bad I can't land OU's planes on grass and I already built up my XC time for this semester (and renting from the city is now on my own dime...yikes!).

Watch out for Fowl near the Tishomingo wildlife refuge, there were birds (or flocks of birds) that were big enough to show up on radar!

Thank you so much Stacey. :) I appreciate your comments.

Here is a thread where I posted about taking the professional photographer flying after our photo session. He was a lot of fun and a cool guy. Hopefully he will come back to see us again.

Kate, the author of the article was a pleasure to visit with...she is bright and positive.

I'm sorry you can't join us. Have you been able to attend the fly-ins up your way?

What time? The Redhead and I just might attend.
It would be great to see you both again. :) Don't know about time, but will likely be after 12:00. We might stop for fuel on the way down. Barb may fly her airplane too...we're still fuzzy on the logistics of that.

Sorry you can't come. Thanks for the bird alert.

Are you coming to Gaston's next year?

I will be in Lubbock Texas on 17th, 18th, and 19th but thats for work.

Diana: Check out GLE (Gainesville) and Sherman for fuel; the later is usually cheapest. Sherman is right at the bottom of Lake Texoma. I'd offer to come, but the P-Baron wouldn't do well there.

Best,

Dave

If I can get a hall pass, you want to come up in le Bo?

Maybe. I would actually like to fly the P-Baron this weekend; detecting some rust in knuckles, ankles and other areas used to fly, but not much on the ground. If I can work out both, that would be great.

Best,

Dave

I used to fly my Travel Air in there with a ton of room to spare in and out.

The 180 will be tail-dragging that way too.

Thank you Diana. Great videos. I'm jealous.

I haven't had the opportunity to attend any flyins. I haven't been aware of any around Memphis. I would still like to come to Gastons. We used to fish at Stetson's a lot.

OK, here's the latest plan. Barb and I are taking off at 08:30 from the farm in the Citabria and maybe stop for fuel at KMLC or KDUA depending on what mood we're in. Hope to get to Cedar Mills by noon. We need to depart Cedar Mills by 2:00 to get home by dark.

See ya there!

Shoot, I may just have to huff it up there. Do you have two chutes? :D

diana, did i inspire you?
Absolutely. Always. :)

As I told Barb tonight, Tony landed when it was safe, and so will we if we need to. We always have friends to take us home if we land before we get home because it's the smart thing to do.

yea its always nice to have friends who will come bail you out. or at least have a nice sleeping bag in the baggage compartment (assuming it was warm outside).

The trees have grown since you were there. Spike Cutler said he took this picture as he was turning base to final. He was over the lake, looking towards the runway.

Naw, that couldn't have been me- I couldn't hardly see the runway from the angle I was at after I turned final... the *first* time... :D

Why do I always find these threads *AFTER* the fact? Hope you all had fun. Teresa and I would have come up to join you. Cedar Mills is great.

These are two pictures of Spike's landing. One as witnessed by the onlookers, one as he later described it at lunch.

Nice picks, Wayne, and funny on the second photo.

Who was your passenger, Spike? Dave S.?

Yes, that's Dave in the front, and my brother-in-law Jeff Smith behind him. Tommy was in the 4th seat.

Thanks for taking me Spike. Nice to see everyone there. Not bad viddles for a fly-in place; great weather.

Best,

Dave

How funny! :D

It sure was great spending time with everyone! Sorry we were late and then had to leave so fast.

I landed at the farm with five minutes of daylight left, so we made it home just in time. It seemed like a prudent thing to stop for fuel at Joplin and that took way too long. We could have probably made it to the farm with what we had, but then again, maybe not.

I'll check my photos later and will likely post a few...only if they are flattering, of course! :D

And Spike...thanks for Hayden! :p :D

Here are a few pictures from today:

I'll try to get the videos edited and posted today.
That would be great! I'm looking forward to seeing them. If there are any unflattering segments of the wimmen, I trust that you will edit them out. ;)

I hope I wasn't too noisy in the background as the T-6 was flying. I got excited.

It was great seeing you and Sandra again...sorry we didn't get to talk much. I just starting reading your blog about the trip to California...sounds like a wonderful adventure.

I'm gonna try to post the videos, but don't hold your breath.

Trying again.....

This thing don't like MPGs.

Those are great! Thanks Bo! Wish we had one of YOUR take-off.

Did anyone get the landings?

Sorry, I was too busy with a downwind takeoff to make a video.

I think Tommy got your landing on his camera.
