You know what? You're absolutely right. I'm doing it again tonight, this time with tri tip. Black pepper has just been added to the checklist.

Sac's back! You ain't getting salmon like that, and tri tip, in the backwaters of SE Asia.

That ain't real slaw Sac! Real slaw comes in a plastic tub, ready made at the grocery store. I sure miss Tri-tip!

Perhaps, but there are some endearing aspects that more than offset the lack of salmon and tri tip. And I will just have to leave it at that.

Grilled me salmon last night, yum yum. No slaw though. :(

So now that I'm sobered up right, I noticed most of the cole slaw is still there. I used mayo, the juice from a lemon off the tree, and some balsamic vinegar.

Balsamic vinegar is good, but not on cole slaw.

Since this thread has resurfaced…reminds me of a 2am long ago (early 1990s) when I wanted a Bloody Mary but didn’t have Worcestershire sauce, so substituted soy sauce. And all we had to eat was sliced white bread and some butter, so made toast without toasting with chunks of cold butter. All that salt didn’t taste as good on the round trip at 4a. Still nasty 30 years later.

One drunken Saturday night in the barracks in Germany we opened up the five pound can of "loaf, ham, processed" we scored from the mess hall, and proceeded to slice it up and cook it on the hot plate with various additives including soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, dry onion soup mix... you name it. Salt upon salt. It sounded good at the time. Let's just say it didn't stay down for very long.

Later on that night, after more Jagermeister and beer, we still had the barrels from our .50 cals from the previous week's gunnery exercise (third floor, we didn't want to have to lug them back upstairs from the arms room for cleaning the next day) and a sack of loose blank rounds. We fashioned a zip gun using the blanks, wadded up pieces of wet paper towel, and a hammer, and proceeded to shoot fireballs down on the Strausse below until the CQ figured out what was going on and shut us down.

The “Later on that night” is the amazing part of being young!

I can’t hit like on the above enough, lol!!

wait, what have I been missing over there?!?!??
Somebody made a coleslaw joke in the joke thread. Then it like turned into recipes and stuff. I created a coleslaw thread and said go here. Next joke please. @Daleandee had the perfect next post. If we had a Hall of Fame, this would belong in it.

"There’s this grandma who has a world famous coleslaw recipe. At her family reunion she makes a huge batch. But her grandson, who hates coleslaw, refuses to have any. The grandma gets angry so her grandson gives in, and she heaps a large amount onto his plate. He stares at it sadly and sings “I fought the slaw and the slaw won."

Godwin's Law dictates that it will eventually turn in to a bbq thread.
