Good Guy
I looked at the AV8R GPS website. It looks like a nice system, and is certainly reasonably priced.

But even the downloaded brochure looked fuzzy to me. I can barely make out the numbers on the forward looking terrain graph. The images are not larger than real life, so there's no excuse. I have a 295 now, and would like to upgrade. If the real image of the AV8R looks like the image on the website, it's no deal.

Please, somebody tell me they've seen the AV8R in real life and that the screen is sharp and legible.

Big thread about this on the red board. Prolly some useful info over there. (sorry Chuck)

Okay, I must confess to complete idiocy. I go to AOPA and my membership info comes up. When I try to access Forums, either through the main page or the site map, it takes me back to the main page. I have tried clicking on the "featured thread" and I go back to the main page. Any help would be appreciated. forums.aopa.org just takes me to the main page.

Are you logged into first the members section of AOPA and then logged into the forums?

The forums do require a 2nd registration BTW.

Les,

You must sign up for the forum separately. Don't remember exactly how/where but you can't just go from the AOPA website to the forums without signing up. I have a different user name and password for each.

No, I am only logged into the membership. I can't find anything at all about logging into the forums. It is very well hidden, if it's there at all. I sent an email to AOPA. I'll post their reply in case others are confused.

From what I'm seeing, you should be able to view the forums after you've logged into the main AOPA site. In order to post, you need to register for the forum separately at http://forums.aopa.org/register.php
If this is your first visit, be sure to check out the FAQ by clicking the link above. You may have to register before you can post: click the register link above to proceed. To start viewing messages, select the forum that you want to visit from the selection below.

I couldn't get to that page, either. I use FireFox all the time, but I just tried IE7 and I was able to get to the red pages and register. I still cannot get FF to see the red forums. Cookies are on and popups are permitted for both IE and FF.

Well, to be blunt, AOPA forums are POS. You need to have cookies enabled, and then close your browser, then start over again. It should work but no gaurantee. You may even need to restart your system. Sorry.

I have so many problems with their logins that I frankly stopped going over there very often. That and the forums are more hit and run questioning. I did not care for their 'style'. But they do have a lot more people so sometimes asking a question over there will get you an answer sooner.

Much more activity on Medical Matters than here and for some strange reason I've been paying more attention to that area lately. :(
