Hangar alternatives for a project aircraft?

I very specific plane has recently hit the market, but it needs some work.

Although I have been avoiding project airplanes, this specific plane is so close to exactly what I want that I have been trying to find it to document some of its features.

In short, its a folding wing EAB. If I had so much as a garage, I would not hesitate to pursue it.

But I don't have a garage, I live in an RV and I don't have a place to work on it. Renting a hangar is not an option, because there are none available, and although I am asking around for someone to share hangar space, I am looking for backup plans because I don't expect that to happen. I have even gone so far as to look into storage units (but the ones that don't explicitly ban working on projects in the unit, don't have power outlets so that would be a challenge).

Has anyone rented space, other than a hangar, to work on a plane? If so, where did you look? How did it work out for you?

Look for garage rentals for vehicle work. Have used some in the past for off airport projects.

perhaps a quiet generator, batteries, inverter for those storage units without power. Might work if you're only needing to power small tools...

or perhaps those commercial strip mall type places, sometimes they have a store front + a big roll up door. Others are unimproved with no storefront or improvements at all. Many are converted into all sorts of businesses, dance schools, auto shops, and all sorts of things. Perhaps you could find one someplace out of the way so the price is lower...park your RV inside and your project too
 
I've seen where people rent a space in a warehouse, then put up plastic sheet walls to mark the space.
 
I know a guy building an Rv-10 in an air conditioned storage space. He rented two adjacent rooms, one for parts and tool storage, and one as the “shop”. It also has electricity obviously.
 
My exp Cub was built in an off-airport shop space. I borrowed a outdoor spot at a friend’s hangar to hang the wings and do final rigging. Towed the airframe and trailered the wings. It was my 2nd Cub and both were finished the same way in the same place.

How did you find the space? Was there any challenge in renting it?
 
My mechanic friend rented one bay of a multi-bay heavy equipment shop. There were no restrictions on welding, painting, etc.
