Cirrus Vision Jet KMQJ

“Breaking video of the new cirrus float plane”

[satire]

New slogan? Cirrus CAP, if you like our motor mounts, you’ll love the parachute

Low level engine failure after rotation in a single engine jet?

Presuming they took the longer windward ruwnay

Could try the 180, not sure how the cirrus jet responds to that, or land straight ahead at 1.3AOA speed, I say likely good pull

Heck no. Pull the CAPS. Period. That's part of their training.

Not exactly. In general, the mantra is “Consider CAPS” - not go to it reflexively. But after consideration, other options should be considered if time and conditions permit. But the success rate of CAPS pulls is so close to 100%, it’s hard to fault anyone for choosing that option early in the process.

After a CAPS pull is a plane repairable in general or is it considered a 100% loss???

100 percent repairable…. BUT….

Usually not factory approved, which means something, but not everything.

So it’s a insurance thing basically.

I also wasn't aware operators could supersede ATC and ground control and have full jurisdiction over taxi routes, airways flown, holds, and clearances.
All of those things are functions of the airports and routes you choose to use.

Watched video.

Can't stop saying bro, Bro.

At least he didn't lose the engine.......lol.

Functions of.. yes, but the way their sales pitch is written on their alleged green emissions suggests to the general populace that they've somehow outsmarted the system. My post was also sarcastic. I assumed they were buying offsets or planting trees, but it basically comes down to "we have one engine on a new plane, plan to use SAF, and we fly more efficient routes and have more efficient ground ops"

I was also sarcastic

But I digress

Depends on the extent of the damage. There are at least half a dozen that have been repaired and are still flying - or maybe more.

I owned a CAPS rebuilt SR22 and other than the horribly unreliable Continental powerplant (which was a new reman IO550 with TAT TN - not the original engine that was on the plane when the first owner ran out of fuel…) it was a great airplane.

To me, speculation of course, it looks like the age old impossible turn. That's killed *a lot* of people, The BRS looks like a very good option.

If you look closely in Rudy's picture there's an idiot in the right seat with a hat..

Their sales pitch says they use smaller airports to avoid the negative stuff you mentioned. It may not be as consequential as they suggest, but I don't see any suggestion that they've unlocked some secret way around the system.

It’s all just non-quantitative marketing speak.

What kind of troubles did you have with the engine?

Lots of little annoyances and tweaking required but the real kicker was when the case cracked at <1000 hours. When I got that call from the A&P, I’d had enough and I sold it on the spot without ever seeing it again.
I’m not a fan of continental motors or any antiquated GA pistons.
