the "not worthy of it's own thread" thread

Another instance proving the point that you can get a meaningless correlation between anything if you just look long enough and do a lot math.

I was in our C340 today and was told to follow traffic and "fly Skyhawk speeds". That was a new one.

First, the fishing tournament scandal with leaded fish. Now this scandal rocking the professional corn hole world. A foul day indeed....

A cheating scandal dubbed "BagGate" has sent shock waves across the professional cornhole world.

The controversy sparked in August at the 2022 American Cornhole League World Championships in South Carolina.
A $15,000 purse was on the line in the game where competitors toss bags filled with resin beads into a hole on slanted boards, which are approximately 27 feet apart.

After the complaint was lodged, officials performed a bag inspection. However, Lopez and Richards also wanted their opponents bags to be inspected as well. Turns out none of the players competing were using regulation size bags.

I remember the time I was going down the Channel Guide on TV looking for something to watch. And there it was. Cornhole. Rubbed my eyes, looked again, it was still there. I was pretty sure I hadn't finally gone completely insane and was hallucinating, but ya never know. Put the remote down and went to the computer and googled it. And there it was. It really is a freakin' game. Like safe horse shoes. Immune from law suits when someone suffers blunt force trauma from getting whacked upside the head with a horseshoe. What I'm wondering is, is there a Prison League?

So it's true. Size matters.

It's a midwestern/ southern thing. Johnsonville Sausages was/is a big sponsor. Got to love this great country. Where else can you make money fishing or playing corn hole. (The "corn" comes from where they used to stuff the bags with corn kernels (yes, unpopped).

BTW- whatever happed to the hatchet throwing tournaments?

I was in our C340 today and was told to follow traffic and "fly Skyhawk speeds". That was a new one.

As I have mentioned, my plane is (apparently) invisible to ATC radar.
Every approach to every controlled field requires multiple, where am I, how high am I, etc. Then they tell me call 3 or 4 mile final. "OK" says I.
Then, after some period of time, "What is your location, altitude and airspeed?" because it's taking me so long to get there.
I always reply with ground speed then air speed, which is usually 85 mph.
And then the silence.
Finally, knowing they have other faster planes in the pattern I hear: "Can you go any faster?"
My answer is usually something like. "Only if the wings come off."
My local airport handlers know me now, and will ask if they can slot faster planes in front of me while I am still far enough out, or before I turn final.
Lately, the controllers will ask me to fly a right pattern so they can put the faster planes in the left pattern.

This might be one of those times one takes an intersection departure, in the event you get blown back some…

Wow it’s quiet today.

I have a confession. I was a bad student today. About an hour into ground (because of the above METAR), another CFI walks in and asks if anyone wants to do a tower tour. I convince my CFI we should go and therefore squandered the second hour on that. Icing on the cake? I asked if I was going to get charged for the second hour.

Checkride is in a week in a half; he’ll be rid of me soon enough.

What rating are you torturing this poor CFI for?

extra hour of sleep, my a$$. WHAT extra hour of sleep?!?! here I am having my morning poo, posting happy bdays, doing anything BUT sleeping. sheesh.

You do that B'day thing manually everyday? I thought that was on some kind of auto pilot thing.

I click a button and the process runs. not much to it. could be fully automated but I don't feel like leaving my laptop on every night.

I’m leaving for upstate NY Friday morning for the annual bourbon fest.

There’ll be some deer hunting too.

Got to try my hand at 30-50 kts headwinds. And some proper squirrelly gusts on final. Did not like. Still somewhat faster than driving. A little.

Doesn’t seem Boeing is setting up for the future here.

Nov. 4, 2022, © Leeham News
: David Calhoun’s decision to tank all-new airplane development kills the direct replacement for the Boeing 767-300ERF that was under development. It also places in doubt the development of the 787F.

Calhoun, the CEO of Boeing, said on Nov. 2 that Boeing won’t launch any new airplane until the mid-2030 decade.

They’ll have to contract out the design to a company that still knows how to design airplanes by then.
