Gryder says it was due to deterioration of the trim tab/elevator. He makes a pretty good case. It may just be an AD for these older aircraft, especially the ones operated in maritime environments.

Agree, I believe Gryder got this one right. Definitely worth looking at for a few minutes. One of the very few of his videos I could stand. He must be responding to feedback.

Float Otter operators need to find a means to preflight the empennage.

Maybe it's just my over active imagination or my hyper developed sense of paranoia, but hasn't anyone noticed a serious up tic in anti-aviation sentiment in news reporting, complaints against aviation noise and aviation in general? I've had more uneducated (about aviation) people get loud with me about how dangerous little airplanes are, etc, etc. in the last 5 years then any time since I started in 1965.
Examples:
We are now being told not to fly over Spencertown, NY because the people in Spencertown took a vote and they don't like airplane noise. Spencertown is MILES from any airport, but we are being asked by airports up there to please don't fly near the town.
Or has anyone been following the new rules about model aviation? Under the new rules of engagement, if you (a certificated pilot) get busted for breaking the FAA rules for radio control aircraft and drones, you don't just get slapped with whatever punishment the government deems appropriate, you lose your pilot certificate as well. Look it up. It's one of the first rules they passed. You lose your pilot privileges for flying a model airplane. Explain that to the wife and kids when you lose your airline job.
Anyone want to bet cash money whether the King Air threat to Walmart results in some new anti-aviation rules?
It's a trend, and it's not in our favor.

It's news for conspiracy theorists. Honestly, if you are really worried about your paranoia, then stay away from these tabloid sites. As someone who is dealing with a very close family member who is now home-bound and unemployable due to their paranoia, (and to whom right-wing propaganda like this is perfectly tailored to), I encourage you to more stringently evaluate the veracity of your news sources. And ask yourself if consuming this content makes your life better.

Spencertown has 12 people. It happens. Oriental, NC sometime ago sent a petition to the local airbase to stop flying over their town. It was politely ignored. Most of the surrounding county derives income in some way from employment at the base. Oriental is a haven for whiny yankee retirees. There is always someone complaining about something, usually people with too much time on their hands.
I did not know about the rc plane thing.

We have what were major news organizations just making things up in the last few years. I don't think Newsmax has gone that far.

And citing a denial of a motion to dismiss in state court? For shame... The supposed "facts" in that opinion are just the allegations made in the complaint. You do understand, don't you, that nothing in that opinion was found to be fact by the court. Those were simply allegations made by the plaintiff that were assumed to be truthful for the purposes of ruling on the defendant's motion to dismiss. From the standpoint of what really happened, your citation is totally meaningless.

There are a few. Very small number. WSJ is probably one of the most reasonable as far as balance of reporting with least spin.

I have to admit, if someone had told me 30 years ago I'd be getting my news from WSJ as an adult, I'd have thought they were crazy.

Grossly biased journalism is nothing new in American history. Historically, unbiased journalism is the exception.

However, the retraction and public apology that Newsmax had to air on this exact subject speaks volumes!

Saying CNN 'skews' left and FOX news 'skews' right is absolutely ridiculous.

As someone who leans conservative, I used to get most of my daily news feed from CNN. While CNN at the time did skew left, I believe it's important to consider where the opposition is coming from.

But CNN completely went off the rails during the Trump years. To the point where there wasn't even a hint or attempt at objectivity. Just pure emotion and complete lack of quality control in editing.

FOX absolutely lost it during the Obama years.

Neither have recovered..... because their readership doesn't want them to.

Sorry, but that is not real journalism.
 
Every single news site I've ever seen has a "bent", because they are written by humans. It's incredibly rare to see an article without some kind of agenda written in. You just have to be able to understand the bent so you can sort out what is real news and what is the writer's skew. It's not too hard. Usually.
 
There are two aspects to this discussion. The first is the selection of the articles to be published, and the second is the accuracy of what is published. I don't really care about the first, since I can go to the other side and see the news they have decided to publish. What is very troubling is the tendency for established "journalists" to simply accept what they are told by a "source" without confirmation, examination or investigation.
