Stolen King Air still flying as of 8:38am on Sat (9-3-22)

Did he just end it?

Yeah, no more returns on any of my apps. Should be over.

Wow. Appears that he’s very close to my location now! That’s a Tupelo based King Air.

Interesting no law enforcement or fire helicopters in the area... At least not on ADS-B.

No offical update. It appears that he is down.

Report of aircraft that went supersonic a while ago. Guessing ANG.

How do you receive a report when a plane goes supersonic other than when someone on the ground is witnessing ?

Did he go down or just discover his transponder was on?

Still not seeing any emergency aircraft over the area where he was last pinged so perhaps he turned it off or the FAA turned it off...

After 9/11 I just assumed this was SOP if we fly suspiciously. I'm kinda surprised we don't have Avengers driving around all the time

This is Mississippi we’re talking about! :)

Yeah looks like he ended it.

Reports are in that he crashed. I am sure the FAA grounded all traffic in the area so it will take a minute for first responders.

FlightAware seems to have stopped updating, last altitude no higher than 900'. Said to be over a national forest: What's the terrain altitude?

Holly Springs National Forest I’m guessing. Hard to say but his last location seems to be just a bit east of that. I fly this area a lot. Mix of heavy woods but also a lot of farm land. Parts of the forest are kinda rugged but nothing major. There’s a lot 4 wheeler trails and fire access roads through the forest.

I assumed suicide by plane. Perhaps he had a change of heart; otherwise, this joyride will cost him years of freedom.

Per video on social media it might even be a re-usable airplane.

Too bad the cops on-scene couldn't finish the job he started and failed at.

edit per ktup, none of these.

Im seeing “Patterson, (Cory or Corey)”
(There are 17 Pattersons in MS. There is one Cory in Shannon, MS, student pilot years ago)

Walmart shoppers can return now.

To deadstick a king air in a "good landing" this wasn't just a run of the mill suicidal plane thief. Dude evidently knew his way around king airs, how to feather, etc.
