He was just adjusting the controls for the wind so he doesn't flip the plane.

My senior year at college I lived in a six person housing unit. One of my roommates was a sci-fi guy and he was watching this episode. One of my other roommates also flew, and we were in the common room when this came on. When they got to the part where they were trying to turn on the ground with the yoke we both started groaning at the TV. Good times.

At the end of that semester I had to take him and his stuff to the airport. He was trying to get into Med school, and he wasn't going to get the grades he needed where we were, so he was going to transfer to someplace easier. His dad, who was a surgeon, came and picked him up in a Centurion.
