Meteor Crater near Winslow AZ. Look how close it came to hitting those buildings!

Didn't I read a story years ago that 2 commercial pilots flew into that crater with a small plane and then couldn't get out?
I have never flown anywhere near it but have drove by, but seemed like a long way out of the way so we never stopped there. Always wanted to.

We stopped there when we were on vacation a couple years ago. It was over $20 a head to get in to where you can see into the crater. We used the restrooms and passed on the crater.

This weekend was a fun aviation experience - took my buddy flying in hopes that I could get him hooked again (I got him started back in 2005ish era and he got his PPL but then moved to China for a while and hasn't PIC'ed in a while). We took his family up to Big Bear for lunch and a good time was had by all. The rest of the weekend was me flying charter for my wife at her girl's weekend...

"An area of moderate to heavy precipitation at your 11 o'clock 10 miles, 15 miles in diameter."

Otherwise known as Tuesday around here during monsoon season....usually.

We really, really need the rain here.

Fortunately single cell and usually very easy to circumnavigate. (is that a real word.??) .

Yep. Out of the picture was the "other" area of precip that was much larger. They were probably 20 miles apart, not quite like the movie Flight but still an interesting Saturday adventure.

This is what happens if I leave my flight bag out after coming home from work.*

*She actually only got it part of the way onto her head - I had to help her a bit for the sake of the pic. But even then she still wears it better than Daddy!

Trunk Bay on St. John. Laurance Rockefeller bought the majority of the island back in the 50s and gave it to the National Park Service. Everything is pristine… blows my mind every time we visit. I forgot my GoPro, but the snorkeling there is amazing.

Thought this thread would be a discussion about if there's a limit to the amount of Daily PIC time a pilot could log

Had a little unforecast storm sneak into Madison today.

Oh, it was a no mess in’ around storm today! We hit the metaphorical Mooney afterburners. Whereas 8PC and COL664 were still working their way in.

@kaiser Hows the tail wheel training coming?

I was hand washing the plane as my hangar buddy taxied by. Perhaps he was suggesting that it would be more fun flying than washing. He got a bronze Lindy for it, which is stunning as it appears perfect in all aspects. In a few weeks, it is going to it’s new home in Alaska in a few weeks.

Did he offer a ride??

I’m tail wheel endorsed and safe with low xwind mins - 10g17 or so in the cub. Was going to come drag you up if it wasn’t so windy here. I’ll probably go up and start transitioning to the 170 later this week.

What's the UL in that thing? I'm guessing it's not high enough to take the more gravitationally challenged among us?
