Hello all. First post so be gentle.

Helping a friend a few hangars down (TN44) do spring cleaning. He’s got a Phil Johnson Engineering electric tug that needs to go to a new home. He used it years ago. Found a very old thread here on poa. Chime in if you’ve got interest in this topic, watch the eBay for Not Best Tug. Thanks.

It looks like a ztr mower and a garden tiller had a drunken love fest with a snowblower.

Ha! Don’t forget the rattle cans of Allis-Chalmers orange paint! Good one!

Hey, give the guy credit for makin' junk in his garage!

This is what happens when engineers try to fabricate.

Apologies to engineers. Just got done talking to a structural engineer who wants to do something the most convoluted way imaginable.

Welcome to POA.

I don't think it looks too bad, probably pretty usable?
I see it has a peerless gear box, I over hauled one last year for a commercial walk behind lawn mower. They are also used on racing lawn mowers...lol
Is the motor AC or DC? Motor looks like a AC motor?
I see a DC battery charger, hopefully it is not being used for a power supply in place of 12 volt DC battery?
I have seen 12 volt motors damaged by battery chargers in place of battery's.
What is he asking for it?

This tug was used primarily to move around a T-6. It handled the T-6 nicely. Yes, there is battery tray with no battery installed. Needs a battery. It’s on e-bay now.

Some engineers over design things. It's easy to do, especially if no one cares much about the costs. But one definition of an engineer that was tossed around when I was in school is "Somebody that can make something for $20 that any idiot could make for $100." I think it's a decent definition, and by that measure a lot of old time farmers were also engineers.

I dunno why, but it reminds me of my go cart when I was a kid. :dunno:

:) to me it looks like something that the Little Rascals would come up with, but if it works, it's cool.
