I hadn't seen this video before... notice in his dialogue WHY this collision almost happened. When you're taxiing, focus on THAT, not other tasks...

Rarely a day goes by while watching a student taxi off the runway and I don't say "Eyes outside while moving, you can worry about that after you clear the runway and stop." as they start reaching for flaps or whatever.

A classic example of how the ability to immediately rectify your screwups is a better goal than saying "well, I'll just never screw up!"

It can happen to anyone, even if they have a jillion hours taxiing a particular aircraft.
Gotta be ready for surprises, and accept that your mistake may be the cause of the surprise.
But yeah, he sure was taxiing fast, and I'll bet he'll never fiddle with his harness again while taxiing... :D

I respect the way he explained what happened- I bet he won't do that again.

Me too... he accepted responsibility for his own actions, while recognizing the causal factors. An admirable trait, indeed.

that's easy to do when you're one of the best in the world and there's no way you're getting fired, and even if u do, getting rehired again is a non issue.

but still, good of him to own up to it. i bet he wont do it again.

I watched that one live on TV. He had a bad run, then did that...ended his day right there. They tried to get an interview with him shortly after they pushed the plane into the hangar; that didn't work too well for the track reporter!

He should have said, "even on the ground a 150 is the slowest thing around!"

(said only in the most humorous and lighthearted way; no offense to 150 owners!)

So, I'm guessing that engine has to get sent in for inspection.
