I'm in the middle of building hood & x-country time for my Instrument Rating, and a little birdie told me this would be a good place to look for someone to split time and/or find a safety pilot?

I fly almost everyday out of Centennial (APA).. usually in the mornings.. Any leads to other sources would be appreciated too!

-sorry if this is a repeat of previous posts.. I did search, but didnt find anything recent?-

Thanks!

Not certain I can help you with this, since I'm not current. I retired and didn't stay current afterward. But are you flying in one of the clubs? You might find someone else who is doing the same at one of the clubs. You might also stop in at the Wings over the rockies museum. Often there are time builders and just plan aviation buffs hanging out there. You might also call the Metro State Univ. aviation office. You'll find lots of people there who might like the opportunity.

Post a note on the boards at the various flight schools. There are always other students who need time and willing to share pro rata costs.

What efforts have you already made to find someone in a truly enormous aviation community?
So far, I've posted on every board, facebook group, reddit, & asked at every flight school in the centennial area that I can find.. What I've discovered is that flight schools (& individual instructors) are VERY protective of their students sharing time, preferring to keep them in house for other students at that school.. Some flight schools even outright ban students from flying with another schools student..
At my school, there are only 2 other Instrument Students that I know of, and they are buddies already committed to each other.. And I'm the uncool new kid that cant sit at their table yet.. lol

That's too bad. Have you looked into joining the Colorado Pilots Association? I don't know how large it is these days but you might make some contacts that way.

Justin....I'm not IFR rated but for VFR weather, I can be available (often) Friday, Sat & Sundays, and live under the approach to 17. Not this Sunday, it's our EAA chapter brunch. What are you flying?

Next - it's not only the social media resources, have you put a 3x5 card on the board at the Pilot Shop? At the pilot lounge in the main terminal at KAPA?

Which brings up another option - check out the EAA chapters in the area. 301 flys Young Eagles at KAPA on the 3rd Sat of the month, 4th Sat at KCFO.
