I don't know how else to find this than to ask some of the most well versed, well resourced aviation needs out there. So here's the story...
My grandparents' house burned down in 2001, when I was 12. I grew up in that house and I distinctly remember there being an air-to-air photo of my grandfather's 172 in the living room. My mom asked me of I remembered it today and then she filled in a couple of details I didn't know. 1) It was a shoot for a magazine cover, 2) the tail number is N2887E, and 3, he owned that plane from about 1986-1989ish before moving up to a Twin Comanche (N110WW). My grandfather went west this past October, so I can't ask him what magazine or any other details. I know it's a long shot, but with help from this community, I'm thinking there's an outside chance we might be able to track it down. For reference, it was repainted in 2009, but the color scheme is fairly close to my recollection of the original.
I am thankful that I got to take him up for his last GA flight just a couple of months before he passed, but I would love to track down this other memory as well. So, what have you got?!?
And here's a couple other pics that go along with the story.
