How come there's still no NTSB report for N79396?

  • The right wing spar is destroyed
  • The left fuel tank was punctured (about an 8” diameter hole in the bottom)
  • The left gear was jammed through the top of the wing
  • The left skins are deformed showing the outline of the frame underneath along the entire left side of the aircraft.
  • The horizontal spar is destroyed.
  • The tail cone is significantly bent out of shape.
  • the rails of my seat are bent out of shape along with the support below
  • My seat is pretty much destroyed
Seems like significant damage to me.

I didn’t know about all this damage until recently.

My agent did say they were surprised by the amount of damage, so maybe they will notify the ntsb and ntsb will go look at it.

but is the johnson bar ok? those things are rock solid.

I know you’re making a joke, but it must have broke at the weld since it was still locked down but the gear was collapsed.

Impressive. No roll cage damage?

Who knows. Kinda hard to tell standing in an orange grove. The shape of the "roll cage" was visible in the left skins. At least a 1/4" to 1/2" impression.

What's the next plane Salty?
I've got some other major life changes going on right now so I'm not sure yet. Have some ideas, but still too iffy to talk about.

A friend had a cherokee 140 destroyed in a hangar fire. It took him a little over 2 years to find a replacement. He bought a really nice cherokee 180, and I mean it was really nice.

So, if I may suggest: be patient.

So, the Mooney has still not gone up for auction. The Faa has gone dark on me. Multiple queries by myself and the insurance company have been totally ignored. My policy is about to expire and technically I still own the plane until it’s auctioned so I think it’s fair they at least say they are doing something. No response at all is not acceptable.

I hope I never have to find out first hand how this all works, but at the moment I’m confused. I assumed when the insurance company totaled the plane and paid you for it, you transferred title to them.

Not to my understanding. I signed bill of sale, etc, but they didn't file it, they will give it to buyer of the salvage to file. My broker tells me I should keep liability on it so if someone cuts themselves tripping over it in the hangar I'm not on the hook.

ive only sold two airplanes so far, but it's my understanding you're supposed to take the 8050-3 from the aircraft and send it filled out back to the FAA with the buyer info. Thats your official out. The buyer (insurance) being derelict in their aircraft registration because auction potato isnt a problem of yours.
