Thankful for PoA

the thing that really sux is, it's only a matter of time before something of importance gets hacked. NOT that poa isn't important, u know what I'm saying.....

Yes, eman, I absolutely do. We instituted some extraordinary practices over the past year. You can't even get into the building without an employee accompanying you.

Facebook, wasn't that something that was popular in 2006?

Funny you should mention websites being hacked. I've been trying to track down a truck I saw listed last week before the website, truckpaper, got hacked. The parent company runs several services, most notably tractorhouse.com, which probably 2/3 of farm machinery dealers use to list/ manage their inventory. Even their phones are down, and all the websites have kicked back a "dns error" since Friday.

as long as farmersonly.com is still up and running, we're good here.....

If you want a truly sad barometer of society at large, check out how inundated numerous 911 centers get with calls by people reporting that Facebook is down…

It is appearing that this is more than just a simple website hack. It may be a deeper IP address issue that could have broader impact if the bad guys spread their attack more widely.

The cyber war is escalating. I think we’ll continue to see an up tick in attacks for the foreseeable future.

I think the US GDP will increase 10% with facebook being down... So not totally sure that our enemies will come out ahead on this one. :D
You would think. But now instead of Facebook I’m on here more… ;)

That assumes the heavy users have anything more productive to do with their time.

I'm not sure that is the case. I think there are a lot of people who have spent today staring at an unresponsive screen and refreshing over and over and over...

Which, now that I think of it, is exactly what Mark Zuckerberg's character was doing at the end of the movie The Social Network.

Oh the humanity! People can’t post what they had for breakfast, we are in for a facebook civil war.

That would be like if Starbucks ever shut there doors, think about it

sadly it is. My local 911 had to put out a PSA telling people that Facebook/Instagram outages are not an emergency.

I liked, but I didn't like like.

The original post is funny though, because it's like texting your friendzone when your main won't answer the phone. So in this metaphor, if PoA had any more self esteem it would tell OP to kick rocks, but it doesn't. :D

I’m thinking of buying soon. Down 5.4% and probably will shoot up next week, next month.

I'll post it here, then. PoA is the new FaceGramChat!

Coffee. That's what I had for breakfast. Coffee. Oh and a protein shake I made before I left the house.

Just wait for them to hack into the GPS when your on the LPV approach. That could be a bad day.

For me, Facebook is the quickest way to get updates on distant family. It's also a great way to talk about aviation with an extremely large audience (way bigger than POA)! You can seriously make it what you want. If you're seeing junk, well, it's probably the type of friends you have or the junk you've input that triggers it to send you more of the same.

It's always good to see the people on here who want to tell us they don't use it so they feel better about themselves though!

Controller is up for me.
I just got an email from Sandhills (I've sold stuff with them in the past) that they're going to be able to start bringing their sites back up today. The truck listing I was looking for is back up, too.

Be interesting to see if they paid the ransom like garmin did.

I don't use it and I don't say that here to so I can feel better about myself. But it is good to see those that like to take a dig at someone that has a higher moral standard. :D

You mean someone who thinks they have a higher standard!! My Facebook page has nothing on it that shows lower morals. If someone's does, it's because they choose to see it or they just haven't spent the time to learn how to use it.

People often bash what they don't understand. FB has it's faults, but if you want a great tool for aviation, it's hard to beat. I have a page that shows Texas Fly-Ins. There are local pages we use, like Austin Pilots or North Texas Pilots, which help locals hook up to fly, promote events, find an instructor or mechanic, etc. Very simply, it has by far more pilots in one group than any other.

If you click on my Facebook link in my signature, you'll find nothing but my aviation photos. Just my two cents that nobody asked for!

Um..no. I use my phone and texting to get updates on distant family. I had a Facebook account many years ago and it was more like a job trying to keep up with who said what and yes, there was a lot of things I didn't really need or care to know about some people who posted there. Since most people didn't seem to have filters and I do, I deleted my account and have never regretted it. I didn't post that I don't have an account to "feel better about myself" nor did I post that to make anyone else feel like they're less of a person if they do.

If you take any of my posts the wrong way, I meant it the other way.

It was a joke sir. I mean no harm (see the smiley). I have no knowledge of facebook though everyone I know uses it.

You said that we say we don't use it to make ourselves feel better. That's not true for me.
