Pre-mix addictives?

For those of you who use additives (Camguard, etc.) in your oil, can I pre-mix it and let it sit?

My thought is that when I get a case of oil, I can open each quart and pre-add the Camguard. That way when I need to add a quart to the plane, it’s already mixed and all I have to do is dump in the oil and be done.

Any problems with this?
 
Sounds like a solution in search of a problem. The engine will mix it up just fine
 
That’s some highly addictive stuff, man. But if you use a good quality CamGuard, you don’t need a pre-mix. It will taste just fine with a couple ice cubes…much smoother too.

Should not be any problem .... if I understand you correctly it would be more convenient for you to just add your quart of oil without having to also bring along a bit of camguard .... makes sense to me.

The only issue is you break the seal of the oil jug to add the camguard and you want to make sure you get the cap back on tight so it does not leak in your baggage compartment or wherever.

I would first give the container of camguard a good shaking to make sure it hasn't settled out ... then pour a bit into each oil jug .

(I dont know if camguard does settle out but just an added precaution )

Yeah, it really isn’t about getting it mixed, just about my convenience. Not having to measure and add at the plane and just being able to dump a pre-measured quart (plus additive) in.

I guess if you have to add several quarts between changes it could make sense. I dump the pint in at oil change, it gets mixed during the post change run to leak check and then usually only put in one quart between changes. Given that, I’ve never thought about adding any camgaurd between changes. If I was adding 3-4 quarts between changes I’d probably think about adding some as you suggest.
 
Addictive premix? I’m partial to the smell of VP C12 and one of the better castors like Maxima 927…

That's how I prep my quarts "for the road." The CamGuard will remain in solution just fine.

It won't hurt anything, but there are a lot better ways to use your time, IMO.

No problem at all - so long as you also add Marvel Mystery Oil AND Mouse Milk to each quart at the same time:D

No problems.
I do this. I open each quart bottle, squirt in 48ml of CamGuard (with a 50ml needle-less syringe), seal the bottle, and mark bottle with a black felt pen 'C'.

48ml fit in a Phillips X/C 20w50 bottle. 1.6 ounce/quart is 47.4ml CamGuard per quart of oil. Each 16 oz bottle of CamGuard will treat 10 quarts of oil.

Thanks. That's my plan. Have them ready to go and in the nose compartment so when I'm on the road on some ramp I don't have to mess with measuring and adding.
 
Ed Kollin, the developer of Camguard told me that's what he does...premix Camguard into his quarts of oil that he used for topping off. So that's what I do, as well.
 
Well...Aeroshell sells 100W Plus with anti corrosion additives pre-mixed in every container..so, I don't think there will be a problem if you pre-mix cam guard in your quarts of oil...or just start using Aeroshell Plus.:)
 
It really is an addiction if you can’t wait until the next oil change to add it.

Very different additives... CamGuard won't disassociate to phosphoric acid like the Plus will... avoid Plus.

I only use Cam Guard during the refill after a oil change. I don't add it until the next oil change. YMMV
 
I’d rather add additional Camguard at home than open bottles to premix. There’s no urgency to add an ounce here or there with added oil. But then, in all the years I’ve used Camguard I’ve never added any between oil changes. My engines don’t consume enough oil to worry about it.
