Glad to hear you are improving, but in case things go south, I call dibs on the 182. :)

I’m sure you will be flying soon. :)

As soon as the fever broke I walked and hacked…and walked and hacked. I took me a couple of weeks before I felt half normal. Hang in there. Your immune system is working as designed.

the good news is now you have natural immunity. ;)

Well ... we call it hocking a loogie here amongst us uneducated folks. :dunno:

I think there's a risk of dying or a bad outcome with any vaccine (or medical procedure), but that needs to be evaluated against the risk of the thing you are getting the vaccine to prevent.

True. The survival rate for this virus is actually pretty good ...

How many people have died from the vaccine compared to the virus? Also, it's not just about survival, at least for me. But, I am in the camp that people can make their own decision. However, businesses and other institutions can limit who they let in.

Numbers are all over the place and truth is very hard to come by. People seem to make up the numbers that suit their position. I merely mention that fact as another thing to consider along with the survival rate. Folks need to make their own informed decision as you have done but that's difficult given the great amount of misinformation and folks yelling fire in a crowded theater ...

I walked nearly every day as well. There were a couple days in there that I never left the couch, and a few days that I only made it 50 yards, but I got up and moved around as much as I could stand. Thankfully, I don't have to hack at this point, and I'm getting stronger every day. I've actually improved three fold since I started this thread.
There ya go. Posting on POA is good for what ails you. It’s a regular digital snake oil I tells ya.

All the personal experiences of individuals with COVID or vaccinations mean very little to me in deciding what to do. I look at the big numbers and chose the minuscule risk of a bad outcome from the the shots versus the bigger risk of getting the virus and maybe winding up dead. Interesting to hear about others and hope all affected fare well. OTOH, Been vaccinated since last August as a Lab Rat and still in the Moderna Trial getting periodic checks.

With almost everyone being hospitalized being unvaccinated, I’m waiting to see what the Lab Rat Keepers do about a booster shot. If offered, I’ll be at the head of the line.

You pays your money and takes your chance. To each their own.

Cheers

Yeah, I hear you. My son and his fiancée got the rona a couple weeks ago, they were fully vaccinated. The upside is it was like a cold with a fever and loss of sense of smell down for about a week. Not that bad for them. Supposedly the vaccine helps your immunity after you get infected and recover, but there is so much crap info circulating now, who knows.

Based on some studies, neutralizing antibody levels after recovery + 1 dose of mRNA vaccine is higher than after two doses of the vaccine.
I wish we had a quick and cheap way to measure neutralizing antibody levels and cell mediated immunity for a individual. It would allow for a individualized recommendation whether someone needs a booster (and how much of it) rather than using rigid time based rules. Individual immune responses are variable.

The flu vaccine is hit or miss, some years they get it right, some years they don't. I've been getting it for 20 plus years, some times it hurts after more than others, but it's been worth it for me.

The flu vaccine mix for the coming season is based on a 'consensus best guess' of what variants are going to be prevalent in the upcoming season. Due to the lead time in vaccine production and testing, that is the only way to create a vaccine for this rapidly changing virus. Getting the vaccine every year leaves fewer 'holes' in your antibody mixture and less susceptible if this year's vaccine is not a good match.

SIL got it in July. Vaccinated fully since April. Also a strict mask wearer. Probably got it on an airplane. Temperature of 103 for awhile then got a monoclonal antibody infusion which kept her out of the hospital. She's a very fit 60-something Y/O who goes to the gym regularly and gets lots of outside exercise by running. I have to wonder if the virus was engineered to explode on every, say, 1000th victim. Don't know if that's even possible.

For all interested....the Red Cross will test your blood donation for antibodies and if your blood is "reactive" with COVID. I regularly give and the last three samples continue to be positive. Neat stuff.

Full disclosure: I know of dozens of folks who have had this virus, to include my 87 YO MIL (she did the best out of all of us - just the sniffles). None were hospitalized and none died with or of COVID. Folks, don't fear the reaper here.....the media is making more out of this than needs to be. My daughter is an RN at the local hospital...and we get first hand info there. She is seeing many patients who have been recently vaccinated with clotting or pulmonary issues. So, you pick your poison.

I got both shots of the Shingles vaccine, second one laid me out the whole weekend. Worth it. A colleague of mine got shingles in her face. Killed her eye and one of her cranial nerves, now half her face is paralyzed. I'll take the vaccine any day.

Everyone knows an extreme, hell I'm one of them. From age 2-25 I've had about 2 lifetimes worth of medical intervention.

If you lived in New York in the spring 2020 and saw the lines of ambulances, the doctors and nurses committing suicide over the crush of incurable cases, and the lack of available care, you might feel different.

New York’s second surge in December 2020 was even worse. I was forced to perform necessary medical procedures (abdominal fluid draining) on my dying father because the wait times at our local hospital ER were 68-74 hours. No available nurses to come to our house either. When in the last 50 years had that ever happened in a place as wealthy and doctor-rich as New York?

Today’s news - Alabama has -32 (negative) available ICU beds. Meaning 32 people should be under care that they can’t get right now.

(Just a general plug about medicine and science) The withdrawal from Cymbalta is criminal, I've seen it with my own eyes when someone I lived with stopped taking it.
That is certainly true. A especially bad with mental and emotional disorder drugs. And let’s not get started about the mess the Sacklers made of the country. What a bunch of billionaire criminals.

I said back in Feb 2020, we can build all the beds and ventilators we want but it its going to end up in the hands of med techs or even lower, there aren't enough MDs to go around.

I'm surprised we don't have temp barracks set up at each hospital and holding medical staff on campuses all over the country.

and yet.....none made it to the Mercy Ship or Samaritan's Purse camps.....what's up with that?

Same here. I know many dozens, if not hundreds of folks who have had it. I know a handful who have died with it. All of those individuals had very serious

That baby is about to be for sale. Anybody interested? I need more seats.

FWIW, I also have a daughter who is an RN at a major hospital, and another who is an epidemiologist at CDC. They know way more than I do about Covid (and from different perspectives), and they both tell me in no uncertain terms to get vaccinated, every chance I get. So I listen to them.

How ironic. I know of four people who have recently died from blood clotting issues shortly after getting their COVID shots. Two due to to lung clots, and two do to brain clots. My own uncle complained to my mom that he’d had the worst headache he’s ever had in his entire life shortly after getting his shot. My mom is a medical transcriber and she’s seeing the same thing.

That signal seems to be getting lost in the noise.

I'm sill waiting to hear about successful compensation cases.

He lies. He was smiling like a kid at Christmas when he took my money. He enjoyed every minute of it.

it's true. we actually had to compare balls. my balls were longer than theirs.

Kinda hard to sue the government isn’t. :dunno:

Government & Industry: Its safe, take it, we have given it millions and millions of people, proof it is safe

Individual: Compensate me for any negative outome

Government: No

(Also Government: You opioid manufacturers are responsible for multiple individual's drug seeking habits, you owe $26B in compensation!)

Good friend got the vaccine and then had a stroke. He's OK but this is another data point to consider ...

Glad I live in the sticks amongst the illiterate and unsophisticated deplorables. Our local restaurant buffet never shut down.:)

I'm watching what is happening with the vaccines with interest. My wife and I have nothing against them in general and will probably eventually get vaccinated for covid when and if we are convinced it's safe to do so. The main concern for us is timing. There simply hasn't been time for the normal development process and real long term testing to take place so we are concerned about potential long term issues and additionally negative effects on pregnant or nursing mothers since we may wish to start a family in the near future. I also have a couple of my former shipmates that had serious side effects due to the vaccines including one that was told the side effects will likely affect her for the rest of her life. That said I hope these vaccines all prove to be safe and effective.

What really concerns me is that our choice on the matter may be taken away as we are seeing an assault on the principle of informed consent and even discrimination against people that are unwilling or in some cases unable to get the vaccine.

Just to clarify when I say "unable" I mean their doctor recommended they avoid it due to a high likely hood that it would seriously harm or even kill them. Unfortunately vaccines that are safe for most are dangerous for some which isn't limited to this one.

Hmmm…….I just might be.

we've always known you weren't quite wired correctly, but HIGH WING?!?! who'da thunk that? maybe u just got vaccinated and you aren't thinking straight? u drinking? is it intervention time?
