Regarding OSH…

Especially on the Weekend before the show. “SEND IT!”….

You posting anything about OSH WX is taboo. So is my bumping your post.

Who’s batting cleanup?

The weather in Wisconsin has been off and on for a week or two. I'm sure it will all be out of its system by the show.

Experience shows there will be plenty of unsettled weather the week of the event. ;-)

On a complete whim, I rented a camper instead of doing my normal tent thing for 2019.

Holy heck am I glad I did. My site had at least an inch of standing water from Saturday through Tuesday. And I wasn't even in one of the really low spots.

I love tenting, but I'll be renting another camper this year.

Yeah, it's tempting. I know a couple people that fly their planes in, so they can show them in vintage, but have their spouse drive in an RV and they camp out in Schoeller.

In 30 years of going to OSH I’ve waited a day before departing a number of times, and only once did we overnight going there (sloshkosh). I arrived once on the RNAV 27 in solid IFR while they were landing VFR traffic and broke out over the lake on final. Moral of the story, just go .

I fly in and camp in Vintage, except 2019 when Vintage was mostly closed due to water and we had to camp in the North 40. I'll be flying again this year, or if weather is bad, I guess I won't be going. 8 hour flight, 19 hour drive. No driving for me!

Last year would have been our first year to ditch the tent, but with the show cancellation we got stay at the Hilton instead and rolled our campground and RV reservations to this year. Just finished paying for the RV rental as a matter a fact. Still flying in though, just not camping with the plane.

You taking pictures for EAA this year?

Excellent. One of my favorite things is finding one of your pictures in the Airventure daily and then telling everyone you took pictures of my airplane that got it on the cover of a magazine.
Thanks! I didn't realized how addicted I was to seeing my photos published there and in the magazine until 2020 was cancelled! I'm ready for a great event.

As usual, I'll post here what number I have on my Photo vest so people can say hello.

Anyone else going to the ACCA’s before? I booked my hotel room last night

I just realized I'm planning to fly to KATW (Appleton, WI) on 8/1/2021. I wonder how much my flight from 02C ( Brookfield, WI ) is going to be impacted since that is the last day of Oshkosh since my route is almost always over OSH.

I suspect ATC will strongly suggest a different route. The notam will still be in effect too

I'd take a look at the NOTAM so you'll be aware, but if you are above the arrival altitudes (departures are below), I'd expect little impact other than there being a lot more traffic than usual. IFR or VFR?

I'm leaving for the east coast later that day; now I wonder if all the hotels and airfields will be filled up.

Well, eventually one has to check the weather, maybe not talk about it?

Another thing, the weather will be what it will be, regardless how much one does or doesn’t talk about it.

What’s next, we have to hang a rabbit’s foot in the cockpit for good luck on the journey to Fisk?

On a longer flight one has to expect a few things to deal with, hard to manage severe clear with light winds all the way. Depending on the day of travel, it’s about time to peek at the prog charts to see what’s setting up.

Okokok here's one... have you heard this one? Have you heard about this???

What is the difference between a pizza and a CFI??

Wait for it... just wait.....

The pizza can feed a family of four!!

OH! Amirite?? Hey thanks! You have been a wonderful audience. Thanks for coming out and we'll see you all next time.

Bah here's another one I thought of in the gym.... original material here and I'm trying it out on this wonderful audience....

Ok ok stop me if you have heard this... have you heard about this??

How are Dan Gryder and CTAF similar to each other??

Okok wait for this... wait for it....

They both are unintelligible, abrasive to listen to, hurt the ears and provide limited to no actual useful information!

Oh! Zing!! Hey thanks a bunch folks, that's my time tonight. Please don't forget to catch me next time I'm in town or on the Tonight Show next month!

On 8/1 I flew to the east of OSH over Lake Winnebago to avoid the OSH TFR. VFR flight following from MKE departure leaving Capital Drive (02C) to KATW was easy, busier than usual in Wisconsin; but not overwhelmingly so.

I'll be flying VFR.

I met some fun folks on my way to Wisconsin on Friday July 30. But no too-full airfields. The hotels were full, but with people joining together for other reasons, nothing to do with Airventure.

On August 1 and August 2, I heard very little traffic on my routes East from Wisconsin. KATW was busy on August 1, no crew cars were available; but my brothers came to pick me up from the airport.

My messages might be a little unclear. Here is my timing and routing.

7/30 NJ - OH
7/31 OH - 02C (WI)
8/1 02C - KATW (WI)
8/1 KATW - MI
8/2 MI - NJ
