Requesting FBO/concrete parking?

I'd like to fly our Mooney Rocket to OSH this year. With barely 8" of prop clearance I'm hesitant to take it through the grass for obvious reasons. Even more so after reading through a long thread on mooneyspace from a guy who had a prop strike in his a few years ago and the nightmare that ensued...

I plan on calling EAA this week...figure just start with the main number and see if I can find someone sympathetic.

Curious if anyone else has done something similar? We want to camp with friends so would have to figure out how to schlep our gear to the north 40...but that's just logistics...

Basler is where all the high priced aluminum (e,g. TBMs, Meridians, etc.) that must stay on pavement parks. You might need a reservation for show week.
The only paved parking that I think EAA controls during show week is Boeing Plaza...good luck with that. ;)

Things change a bit each year, but there used to be a shuttle bus terminal not far from the Basler FBO. It does a circuit around the perimeter of the North 40, so that might be a way to move your gear.

Dozens of mooney's park in the grass at Oshkosh and sun n fun every year without issue. Unless you’re going to pony up, I doubt anyone will be impressed with your dilemma.

Page 14 of the NOTAM: For hard-surface parking and fueling information, contact Basler Flight Service (920-236-7827).

If you call EAA they are going to tell you to call Basler.
 
Or park at Appleton. Need a reservation there too, I think.
 
Lots of Mooneys and low-clearance aircraft successfully taxi and park on the grass at Oshkosh. Those who have issues are usually (1) taxiing too fast or (2) blindly following the ground crew without using their own judgment. So, taxi slow (who cares if you're holding up a line) and don't let the ground crew direct you somewhere you're not comfortable.
 
I had a friend park at the FBO last (2019) airventure. Long story involving all the rain, but I don't think it was overly expensive. The only issue would be reserving a spot if there's any left.

Just curious. Can you not shutdown, and then tow the airplane with something like the handheld robotow?
 
Or park at Appleton. Need a reservation there too, I think.
Other options are Fond Du Lac or Brennand in Neeenah. Both are closer than Appleton, have hard surface parking and may have more availability this late in the game.
