Calling all ATLers. I’ll be down there for about a month for training. Don’t have my full schedule yet. I just know I’ll be down there from July 15-august 10 if you guys want to meet up

How far from LZU will you be staying? Maybe a Saturday lunch meetup sometime at The Flying Machine.

Peach State airport is always a good time on the weekend.

Where in Atlanta will you be staying?

For which fleet are you training?

Do they give you PS to go home on your 'weekends'?

Why would you schedule training in Hotlanta in July and August?

Peach State is on the south side / where you'll be staying maybe 30 min, given the back rounds to get there, But on the weekend you can make it to LZU in 1 1/2 hours. Unless someone daring can fly into Bravo and pick you up at Hartsfield. (A man's got to know his limitations - that's something not for me - maybe in a few years and a lot more hours LOL).

Following this thread. We don't have much in the way of definitive plans for July and August. Talking about going to the northeast for a trip if NY allows fans at the horse races. Or Cincinnati to see some tennis, and Cincinnati.

I'll probably just drive in to whichever airport, unless there's IMC and then I may fly to get some approaches in. :D

Peach state is an uphill grass strip airport - the approach is always land up hill LoL!

We’ll definitely get something together once I actually know my off days!

Same for us. I didn't have much free time left during training. Whenever I did, I went home.

On which fleet are you training?
If I have a day or 2 off, I’m probably just going to stay. Any more than 2 days off, I’m going home. Training on the 737. Flying that until around February then going to the 75/76. My dad should get his medical back around that time so it’s possible that we’ll be in initial qual on the 75/76 together. Would definitely be fun!

Just do some approaches at ATL. I think they’ll accommodate you:)

Oh yeah, they'd just looove a Cirrus on an approach at 100 knots. Yes, I could give them more if needed. I did that last year at CLT to fit in with the crowd there. They asked for 160, so I cranked it up, and told them, "I will have to slow down at short final to land." ;) Airline traffic had picked up a little by October, it was pretty empty in August (I only saw GA moving then, biz jets/turboprops/pistons), so I was mixing it up with the commercial jets in the clouds and rain to bring my daughter back to Charlotte.

I tried to get a landing in at ATL during the pandemic and they said no. :( I could see on ADS-B traffic that they were far from busy; for ATL is was damn near dead. I've been into PDK many times with it busier than ATL was then. It ended up being a good thing as my left main tire flatted when I landed back at home. That would have been a huge mess at ATL.

We set-up a couple of July and August trips last night. Fortunately they are before and after your training time at ATL. So, I should be available for those four weeks. :D

@WannFly - adding Priyo so he knows about this thread, as he's in the process of moving to Atlanta.

Glad you got a training slot. My buddy just typed on the 737 last week and is back on the line.

So I have off July 21-22, 28-29, and August 4-5. Let me know which dates work best. I may be going down to Florida on the 21-22 but plans can change.

Sweet. I’m by the airport but can uber anywhere if you guys know of a good spot for drinks and food!

Im coming into town (ATL) for work this Friday and will be in town all next week. If you guys are doing something the 4th or 5th let me know. I'd come by.

Burger joints? Tapas? Pizza? BBQ? Indian? Seafood? Mexican?

What part of town? We're all over the place, so.... Midtown, Buckhead, Chamblee, Chastain, ...

It is mid-week, so that should help getting in somewhere, plus traffic will just be bad instead of horrendous. ;)

Yes. I'll also nominate Hibachi (well teppanyaki but it seems everyone in the damn state of GA calls it hibachi so...), Sushi & Thai.

Any of those sound fine and I'll throw in Sandy Springs to Alpharetta if its mostly North Side peeps.......just remember like Spock said "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few". :D

Now we're jinxed....probably be a hurricane, tanker fire and real life fast & furious car chase that day.

This Friday I’m in the sim from 5pm-11 so I don’t think that will work
