Flying from KY to PA next week and looking to stop halfway to stretch, get gas, and maybe grab a meal.

Any recommendations? Prefer eating on the field but don't mind to grab a crew car if that's an option.

There's a restaurant at the Morgantown airport. We've stopped there a few times over the years.

Tri state HTS has a restaurant in the terminal, pretty good actually and really cheap.

If you can deal with a 2300' grass runway Newlon (I41) is a great little field right on the Ohio River with a restaurant on the field (Thurs-Sun).

Not WV, but might as well be. Haven't been since the Covid thing, but Cumberland MD had a nice litte diner. Hard to find, ask for progressive taxi if you decide to try.

It's not in WV but I am and I go to SJS about 70nm southwest of CRW. Great little restaurant and there are Elk roaming all over the place. Fun to watch.

Who you going to ask? I've never heard a peep other than me on the radios there. :D Just park in front of the terminal and walk the 100 yards, otherwise taxi past to the north and park in front of the restaurant.

Restaurant is on the field? That place is in the middle of nowheresville!

Is the restaurant still open at Rainelle ?

We used to land at the grass strip on top of the mountain and eat at the diner.

It’s right beside a federal correctional facility too! Lots of old strip mines in the area. Restaurant is great, and the people are friendly. Stays pretty busy with the locals who drive or ride their atv’s in. Runway is fun. Has a dip in it. Was just down there a few weeks ago.

Thanks for that. That could be a good stop on flights up to the northeast.

Call and check in opening hours. I live local to the place and havent had much luck with them in the past year.

I don't believe there is an airport car, but downtown Cumberland is a brief cab ride away with a handful of interesting restaurants.

Yea, they don't open until 0900 on the weekends which is odd for a breakfast place. Would be a fun POA get together though.

MRB has a restaurant on the field. Crosswinds Cafe. Closed Sunday. Quite nice.

If you ever been to West Virginia you should know there are only two words that you need to hear - Biscuit World.

Fairmont has a 50's diner and a sit down place both across the street from it.

There’s one in the pax terminal at HTS!
If I remember correctly, all their biscuit sandwiches and meals have names like “wolf”, “eagle”, “badger”. Absolutely classic West Virginia.

I don't think that's open anymore. The old gentleman that used to run the field on the weekends passed away years ago and soon after that the restaurant closed.
