who has right of way, backtaxi vs landing aircraft?

I'm dismayed at pilots who act like a runway is a time share at the beach, it's theirs until they check out.

i am too.

fortunately, I don’t know any.

Nobody is saying that you have to.

If you are bypassing available, safe, runway exits, and that causes someone else to go around, you weren't attempting to make way.

If you still disagree, what would it look like for a back-taxing aircraft to NOT attempt to make way?

For the sake of discussion, let’s say that you have landed and courteously get off the runway at an exit with no path except the runway to get where you need to go and then a long train of aircraft keep comin and you’re stuck there for a while?

For me if the guy behind me is fuel critical, or for any other reason really needs to not go around I will give him the runway at all practical cost. If it is just so he can not go around because he doesn’t want to, I personally would probably still do all I could to give him the runway like the OP did because that’s just me, but I think the guy is being rude.

You know, I have always tried to respect those I’m sharing the runway with and help how I can. I’ve never really encountered anyone that didn’t return the favor.

Today I went out to get in the pattern to get some gusty and variable crosswind landing practice in the taildragger. On about the third time around one of my museum friends had already run up and was ready to take off in the T6. I was turning base and offered to let him go ahead but he insisted on waiting for me. We were offering each other courtesy. I had a similar thing happen with the museums C47 once. These aircraft burn fuel at a rate that costs a reasonable amount of money for even a slight delay, but they are always courteous. Maybe it’s simply Southern Hospitality.

You wait. Maybe ask someone on downwind if they'll extend to give you time for a quick back-taxi. What else can you do? You don't pull out and force someone to go-around.
