Cheese and cole slaw mix

Hmmm. Maybe if you have corned beef or pastrami as the bottom layer, and you have good rye bread and Russian dressing standing by for the final assembly of the sandwich...

Okay, you made me go look.

Judging from the process of elimination of items in the refrigerator, I do believe the substrate to be corned beef. The problem is however the cole slaw and cheese will become wasted goo.

Shoulda made this. But Sac probably doesn’t do potatoes.

I have no problem with potatoes in the crock pot, as long as they aren't diced or all mushed up. Sometimes I'll throw in whole potatoes with a pot roast for the potato eaters. I like big carrot chunks though.

But that slaw should really be sauerkraut, if that's the case.

I know, I know... today's slaw is next week's kraut, right?

I agree, but it might be a regional thing. Sloppies, or sloppy joes (the NJ version, not what most of the country calls a sloppy joe) is a cold Reuben with cole slaw replacing the sauerkraut. Deviating even more from the classic Reuben, you'll often see them made here with turkey, ham, or roast beef instead of the pastrami or corned beef.

Cole slaw shouldn't be warmed up ever, nor mixed with cheese. Bleech! The only time sauerkraut should be served warm is in the middle of a Rueben sandwich. I don't think Sac flies airplanes, I think he spends his life eating really bad food. No wonder he's a damn mutant.

Just to be clear, I would never personally make that.

Or in a big pot, with sausages.

You want cold kraut on a bratwurst? What's wrong with you?!

What
did
I
Just
See?

That looks.Awful. Cannot unsee that. Hatred.

It gets worse than that.

I don't actually don't want to open the windows in the house as I want to keep the cool in, but I need to rid the horrid stench of burning cheese and cabbage.

Open the windows. Ventilate. For all that is holy.

Oh for heaven’s sake. Why???

That is the question of the year.

Open the windows. Ventilate. For all that is holy.

Oh trust me, I did.

I'm not sure I can describe the taste. Let's just say that after half a bottle of vodka, everything becomes slightly more palatable.

.

Anyone want the best coleslaw dressing ?????

Mix half Kraft Cole Slaw dressing and half Kraft Zesty Italian .... perfect .

Before or after it's in the crock pot?
Never put coleslaw in the crock pot

For convenience I buy pre-cut pre-packaged cole slaw at the grocery store .... less than $3 .... then use half Kraft Zesty Italian dressing and half cole slaw dressing.

You will be amazed how good it is.

I do in fact like the pre-packaged cole slaw mix with dressing, because I can't make decent cole slaw dressing from scratch to save my life. I like to add in mustard, for mustard cole slaw.

I got the idea from a barbeque joint in the SOMA district of San Francisco (yes, I get it, The City is not a logical BBQ destination.) They had two types of craft cole slaws - a mustard cole slaw, and a habanero cole slaw.

Marzetti's dressing. Good stuff.

If you make it to an east coast city that has a Primanti's, try the Terror Tots.

I don't think I've ever seen cole slaw dressing. I usually use either mayo or ranch plus the Italian dressing you use.

And for the record, I have never to the best of my knowledge put cole slaw in a crock pot, and never would....that's too sick to contemplate. :fingerwag:

Please tell me you're kidding. Coleslaw is one of the easiest things you can make. It's just a cabbage salad. Bloody mutant.

We've been over this before. Every time I try to make the dressing I **** it up.

I really like the slaw at Primanti Bros. They have a steak sandwich which has the slaw on it, and it's more of a peppery, dry slaw, not mayonnaise-based like many are. Very good stuff.

Hmm, I could see adding shredded cheese to refrigerated cole slaw, that might work. I wouldn't do it since we serve cole slaw with ribs or burgers or barbecue, and don't need the additional flavor.

I have heard of warm slaw but I've not had it myself.

While we're on Cole Slaw. I found POA about 6 years ago. For awhile 'cole slaw' kept coming up as punch line in what seemed like just about every other thread. Never did figure out what the back story was on that. Youse old timers, what was that about?

Sac... do you want to explain? LOL
