I was just looking at skyvector, and the whole d@*! country is VFR right now. If I owned my own airplane I'd throw a dart at the map from all the way across the room and roll out.

Guess I'll go be poor somewhere else :(

Still fun to daydream though :D

I feel your pain.
As a rule, I don't usually fly on weekends, too many students lined up doing 20 minute checklists eating away at the clock.
But if I had access to a plane today, I'd break that rule. It's perfect out there.

If you owned your own airplane you'd be depressed because it's in maintenance instead of able to go fly. :)

That being said - I'm going flying. Seeya!

Sadly, no flying today because I'm in the middle of a huge home remodeling project. But I'll earn brownie points today so I can go flying tomorrow... :)

I’m fortunate that my little airport only has two CFI’s at the FBO. So that means I’ll be number three in the pattern. I can live with that.

Yeah, take a look at my archer. This was a month ago, supposedly done in 2 more weeks.

:yeahthat:

My twin is going into maintenance next Friday. :(

Me too! Gettin' in some time while I can. :)

So what's going in all those big round and square holes? Inquiring minds want to know. :D

Remove vacuum system, install dual GI-275's. Install GTN750xi, move GNS530W over, install GTX345 transponder. Install GMA35c remote audio panel. Relocate EDM830 and STEC 55x. Remove old navcom2 and DME, Install GSB15 USB ports. Install wig wag system. Convert landing and taxi lights to LED. Convert nav, anti collision, strobes, tail beacon to LED. Install adahrs magnetometer.
Also, replace most of the fuselage wiring and lose about 60 pounds of old stuff.

First post, and it's about wind in w. KS during March "wind madness". Surprise! lol 26G35kt and supposed to get worse. smh

Welcome to PoA! Tell us more about yourself. What kind of flying are you doing? Do you own or rent or fly one of the taxpayers airplanes?
Oh yes, pictures are mandatory around this joint. ;)

We get the craziest winds where I live at this time of year as well. I guess I should be thankful its only 15G25 forecast for this afternoon around here, LOL. I'm going to go shoot a few RNAV approaches this afternoon on the crosswind runway.

Hmmm. The first two sentences are almost exactly what I am planning to do; except I will be keeping the vacuum system for the boots. Very interested to hear about your progress, experience and how you like it once done. I presume the GNS530W is going to be your #2? Are you bringing both to the GI-275 HSI or using the indicator on the upper right for the 530 exclusively?

The mechanical CDI will be driven by the 530 (nav2) the CDI (on the lower 275) will be driven by the 750 (nav1). In heading mode, the lower 275 will couple to the autopilot.

This has been in the works since late Jan. They tell me at this time, the new harnesses and trays are in and they should be done by the beginning of April.

Looks VFR to me!

Hahaha no thanks. I’ve got better things to do today. My rule is if I can’t see the mountains out of my front window (about 10 miles) I ain’t flying.

1.7 hours going absolutely nowhere and back.

(After about 4 months of not flying and working in an unheated hangar...)

So much for forecasts. Winds are now 32G50, lots of mechanical off the Divide - no RNAV approach refresher for me today. :(

Yikes. I flew the other day in 15G25 which is more than usual but not too bad. I think I would stay on the ground there too.

Thank You!
LOL! Get after it! I've flown this wind before but they were calling for gusts over 50 mph so I figured I better not.lol
PP in 2010, didn't fly from '14-20, did BFR, doing ground work for IR looking to get actual hood work in July/August or Nov-Jan. I took a trip w/daughter to see my son 10 hours away and said "I'm NOT driving that far again! I'm fly'n!" lol Got the desire strong and going at it as much as I can. Gotta rent for now, getting a club put together to get a plane. Flown ercoupe(w/rudders), b35 bonanza, renting an archer. Approx 200 hrs is all the time I have...so far. Trips are planned!

Good choice, but then again you could come east to TQK or GCK as it's only 27G39 lol

Beautiful day to fly here in Ohio. Went flying this morning. Dead calm, no turbulence. Nice!

Beautiful day, blue sky, sun out, not a cloud in the sky. And of course 20 kt winds......

We had a bit of cold, wind, and some spritzy rain today. Hey ... welcome to Spring!

I flew!

Refilled The growlers at Hangar 24 in Lake Havasu.. overflew, but didn't land, at Amboy.. there was a plane on the ground at Amboy though so somebody was there

There's a while lot of nothing over the desert. Two engines is nice

OK, I won't talk about a beautiful day of biplane flying around New England, either...

(The beer smiley is because beer tastes so good after several hours of flying around in an open cockpit on a warm spring day with light winds and visiting new airports and shooting landings on grass with a couple friends in their airplanes and... oh wait, I did talk about it. Oh well.)

I have aircraft and still can't fly because she having annual. Hope this makes you feel better

Ain’t that the truth! Plane started its annual yesterday. Damn it!

I really, *really* like twins. I just can't justify the Mx cost. I can barely afford to keep the Skywagon maintained to *my* anal standards.

I'm not even concerned about fuel burn... that's by far the cheapest part of my ownership experience.

FWIW ... That was the weather here last weekend. Got to visit some friends at a grass strip ...

You can thank me for the good weather. My plane is in annual (going on a month and they havent started the squawks yet), so because I cant fly, the good weather is here.

If I owned my own airplane...

well, maybe. Just got my plane back... a "3-week" avionics upgrade took four months. A week later, a $300 engine part broke... had it overnighted in out of eagerness. Doesn't fit.

I'm waiting on the resolution now... maybe ship today, maybe ship next week. Arghh!
