DEFIANT X Looks like a flying submarine

Well the ad is a little silly. "Lethality"? Because it can transport a gun?

But still, I would pay you to teach me to fly it.

It does look like a submarine. The empennage especially.

too bad I suspect it can only dive once.

Looks more complicated. Lots more complicated. More stuff to break. More to pay for too.

But way less complicated than its competition the V-280 tiltrotor. Unfortunately/fortunately, the 280 is well ahead in the power curve in meeting performance requirements, etc. for the Army FVL contract.

Looks like a K-Max fornicated with a gyrocopter and some recessive traits came forward.

None of them are as complicated as a V22. Not even close.

Looks like a prop for a Sharkanado movie.

There are no conventional helicopter controls on the Defiant-X. It's more like a video game.

I got to take a look at the Raider (test platform), V-280, and the Bell 360 mockup recently. The Raider demonstrator was the actual flying aircraft, and was really cool to be able to walk around and look at. The gearbox on it was impressive, and of course there were accelerometers and wires running all over it. The demonstrator does have conventional helicopter flight controls, and the prop is run through a clutch, I believe controlled by a switch on the collective. The V-280 though really impressed me. They had it sitting on a silhouette of a Blackhawk, and the foot print of the Valor was only slightly larger. The 360 Invictus however was huge! Looks like a Cobra/Commanche, but bigger than a H-60. Going to be cool to see these in flight test.

Give it a few more years and it will be more like an ATM. :)
