Air Wagner..... He’s baaaaackk.

just curious but what would be the 'signs' of someone offering membership privileges?

Got covered.

Also remember monetization isn’t the same as this. Monetization injects ads.

Then there’s stuff like Patreon and Floatplane subscriptions, etc.

Never seen Jerry do any of that.

There have been two recent TV series about aviation, the one with the cute Alaskan girl, and the other about a cargo operation in Canada. Both operations could not continue in a TV series. The camera's unerring eye caught them violating regulations, or potentially violating regulations. Did they have cloud clearances on that last landing? Maybe, maybe not. Was the flight visibility enough to be legal?

Nobody can withstand relentless scrutiny. Not Jerry, not me and not you.

That'd be Flying Wild Alaska (Era Aviation) which ran for three seasons and Ice Pilots NWT (Buffalo Airways) which ran for six seasons.

I'm not sure what you're talking about with "withstanding scrutiny" though. Buffalo's certificate was temporarily suspended for a couple of months, but that was long after the show was over. Era changed names a few years after the show was done airing, but continued operating until Covid.

I hear the channel is in for annual.

It'll probably be pencil-whipped and flying again by tomorrow.

I found a twitter feed that watches Jerry. I'm really curious about the guy, I guess I need a life. It looks like he's still flying a lot. But it looks like he might have either gotten some instruction, or a check ride.

Here is the twitter feed: https://twitter.com/JerrySafety?s=20

And here are a couple interesting flight tracks:

Are you aware that Jerry no longer owns 8134Q and that the new owner is completing his Multi Instrument add on?

That said, based on the flight tracks, it appears Jerry might be borrowing 8134Q from Paul while something goes on with his 421

1000 hrs of PIC. The same hour, but 1000 times over.

Oops, you are correct. Jerry has the 421 now.

I knew that comment was coming. Good luck figuring an actual mean or median.

Actually, I think the distribution of IQ scores for the general population is known rather well. It is close to a normal distribution and the mean, median, and mode are all close to 100.

His online presence appears to have vanished. I can't find a single video of him.

Key words, "close to". Realistically the numbers are ever changing, as is the population. So the nit picking becomes moot.

He made his YouTube videos private (as far as I can tell based on what happens when you click on a link to one) and either he or a supporter has been reporting copyright violations when they are being posted by others elsewhere.

I'm mildly interested to hear the story if it becomes public. Meanwhile, it's one less particle in the YouTube Black Hole of Time.

He's sick and tired of the unjustified abuse from overgrown teenagers who call themselves pilots.

FTFY, Jerry, er, whatever your name is

Can't say I blame him. I'm no fan of his flying, much of the criticism is justified, and his worst critics are professional pilots (some of whom see all GA pilots as a lower life form). But at some point the criticism has definitely gone over the top and become abusive.

But I still wonder whether there is more to the story. After all, he already removed the ability to comment.

Thanks for making my point.

That's all I know. I just don't think it was worth the annoyance for him anymore. I mean, Greg Mink nearly killed his channel off that one crap incident with the idiot kid who called FSDO for his radio call.

I know some pro pilots are douche bags, but all that I've personally met haven't been. I think many pro pilots have gone the teaching/build hours route and know the struggle. Some choose to stay in the teaching capacity because they don't like the travel thing, being away from home, or some other reason. I have found those people to be great.

Unfortunately for Jerry, his unsafe antics are his biggest problem. It's not good for GA if he makes a smoking hole in the ground, especially if he takes others with him. It's not good for people coming into aviation to think it's ok to fly the way Jerry flies sometimes. It's a good thing for fellow pilots call him out. But some carry it too far.

I’m new to this forum but have commented fairly extensively on Jerry’s channel (when it could be done). He’s very defensive, of course, and has a fair number of people who defend him. As much as it’s true that a lot of his flying exhibits very poor judgement, going by what he’s claimed, he’s owned a lot of multi-engine airplanes over quite a long time and I’m not aware of any incidents in that history. I don’t condone his flying, but it hasn’t killed him or anyone else yet. There’s an old saying that “it’s better to be lucky than good” and, while I’d rather be good, this aphorism seems to be what gets him by.

that's about the best defense of JW there is..............he's "lucky" and "hasn't killed anybody yet".

I’m afraid so. I hope his luck continues because it’s clear that his bad habits and poor judgement will. It’s been a very bad period for multi-engine private pilots and their passengers and that is bad for public perception and insurance. And, as poor an example as Jerry is, I wouldn’t wish death on him!

I'm one of those "evil" professional pilots. The frustrating thing is how much effort myself and others in my side of the aviation world put into doing the right thing, and holding ourselves to a higher standard, and then watching Jerry do what he does and few people seem to care. Then there are people that think there is nothing wrong with what he does, and that is on the same level as those of us that get paid to fly. I'm no super pilot, but I have never done what he has done, and if I did I'd be sitting on the wrong side of a large wooden desk trying to explain myself.

Whatever enforcement Jerry is facing is completely justified, and completely self induced.

Kind of ironic how close his T Hangar is to the FSDO

Unjustified? Thats rich. I think everyone in aviation has done something stupid. Some of us were lucky enough to have good friends to tell us how stupid we were, and to knock it off and not do it again.

You seem to be interested in continuing to enable him which makes you a ****ty friend.

It’s not about ego or anything else, or thinking that we “are better than him”, it’s us as a whole not wanting another 421 shaped indent in a runway or mountain. Especially if his wife or some other poor unsuspecting passenger is along for the ride.

Yeah, ok. So, you don't have to watch anymore. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Me watching or not watching or Jerry having or not having a youtube isn't going to make him any less dead when he almost inevitably balls up his plane unless he changes his song and dance.

I used to work with a guy who while a nice guy did some pretty dumb stuff. Some of us quietly remarked that it was a matter of time before something bad happened, and it eventually did. If I had said something would it have made a difference? I dunno, but three people are dead and I get to live with the fact that I could have said something and chose not to. It's not a great feeling. In fact, the accident plane is the plane in my profile picture, and I took it a few months before the accident happened. This is what that plane looked like when they peeled it off the side of the mountain.

When a bunch of people who do this **** for a living are calling you an idiot, and your only response is "no u" maybe that should be a wakeup call. The scary part is, there are probably 1,000 more Jerrys flying around out there that DONT have a youtube channel and are just as likely to crash a plane. While some of the Jerry criticism has been over-the-top, there has been some constructive criticism offered in that it would behoove him to go to a good CFI and get some SERIOUS remedial training.

Nail meet hammer...

im worried about Jerry as well. Hopefully someone he will listen to will speak up.

That's where the rub is. I'm not saying this because I think he's a bad dude; quite the contrary. From everything I've seen and heard he seems likeable and pleasant. However when you're the butt of the joke in Pt 135 recurrent ground schools as an example of what not to do that may be a "Here's your sign" moment. That's where I first heard about Jerry and "secondary minimums".

They say you start with a bag of luck and experience; Mr. Wagner is one awful lucky fellow.
