When I try to generate a briefing in Foreflight, I keep getting a response that says "An unexpected error occured while generating the briefing."

It offers no help for resolving the issue.

Anybody encounter this? Got a solution?

Shut down restart?
“Don’t you dare lose my thesis defense paper!!!! I’ll CTRL-ALT-F4 yo silicon ash into the next millennia!!!”

Heard one evening during my student job working a computer lab help desk

Did you think foreflight was just going to sit there and let you play with your fancy watch all day?

How old of an iPad? I ran into messages like that on my mini 2 towards the end of its life cycle. No problems since getting the mini 5

One is an iPad Air, one is a Mini 2. Both worked fine yesterday.

Can you replicate it? Can you tell us what you entered so we can try it and see if it crashes on our equipment?

Ultimately FF tech support would probably be most helpful.

I've sent a message to FF support.

I've repeated it several times with different routes and departure times.

On the VFR map, I enter any route in the state of Florida, for example X04 to KCGC. Run the "Pack" function. Upload the route to "Flights." Set a time of departure that's less than 24 hours away. Click the briefing button. Get the error message.

No error for me, unless an icing airmet in Florida counts as an unexpected error.

Aren't all errors unexpected.??

Well, no.

If I divide by zero on my calculator I expect to get an error. If I request info from a USG office I expect it to have errors. If I try to do carpentry work I expect to make many errors.

But it would sure be nice if FF told me what the error was and how to correct it. An error message that just says there's an error is pretty much useless.

Strange. Wish I knew what was going on.

I've had some issues today with a website not wanting to load and I'm starting to wonder if my AT&T connection might be the culprit.

I can't replicate it. I did KCGC to X04, 12 hours in future. All works fine. Do you have the latest IOS, the latest version of FF? Do you have the latest downloads / data updates for FF?

Yeah, might be your internet connection.

works fine for me. I have ver. 12.11.1.

Yep, worked for me.

do you have trouble with any other routes? All routes? Updated to most recent FF version? Current iOS?

If all else fails, delete FF and reinstall it.

I’ve gotten that twice when it takes too long to load the brief. We have slow internet and spotty cell coverage. Both times was a long route too. Kind of like a timed-out error? Maybe you could replicate it by pulling the plug on the router midstream of the brief upload?

That would make sense. My connection was running very slowly yesterday.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. Rephrased, aren't all unexpected errors unexpected.??

I do not expect expected errors to be unexpected.....

Probably interference from your watch trying to set it's time to the atomic clock.

Y'know, I was wearing it yesterday. Wearing my cheap Casio today (since I was actually flying this morning) and FF is working again. Mere coincidence?

Kind of like when questioned about what the budget line for "unexpected / contingency" is for. "If I knew, it wouldn't be......"

Yes. This evening, i changed the departure time to 'now' and was able to retrieve a briefing. Afterward, I changed the time to the actual departure time for tomorrow and was able to retrieve the briefing. hope this helps.

''Beware of the Jaberwocky''...

(high school english was a long time ago...)
I reached out to the IT support team at ForeFlight and the issue was a software upgrade with both my iPad and iPhone independent of ForeFlight. Go to ‘Settings’ ‘General’ ‘software update’. Good luck

I tried that at the time and it didn't help.

Problem seemed to cure itself. Did not update anything, but it was working the following morning. As someone suggested above, it may have been due to a slow internet connection. I've been having some oddities when using AT&T, such as websites that won't load, and then the problem just goes away.
