Air Wagner..... He’s baaaaackk.

Nice!1/2 scale deflection on the lateral guidance, I can't even find the vertical guidance, and he drops like a rock out of the cloud. I couldn't find the VSI, but I'd assume he's dropping far faster than 400fpm.
He's at full deflection on the GS and about 3/4 deflection on the localizer. Crazy!

It is an interesting methodology for an instrument approach. Stay way high of the GS so you don't hit anything, and then dive for the runway. If the mins are high enough, you recover from the dive and land. Looking at the altimeter, it looks like he broke out about 300agl, 1700fpm, 10.5 seconds to impact from breakout. Piece o' cake!

That is absolutely nuts! He was descending for a long time at over 1k per min and was still full deflection on the GS until he was past min. He must be a Troll. No way someone would do that, video tape it and then post it for everyone to see. Unless he's a Troll. Seriously, he's got all of us talking about it.

Troll? Undoubtedly, and makes for high excitement thus lots of likes and subscribes from the unsuspecting thinking he's superpilot. Still wonder how he gets a pass, though.

I hear the videos were taken down because he’s signed a deal with an air carrier to teach his techniques to them as the next big thing in stabilized approaches.

Kidding of course, for the humor impaired.

Or those impressed someone can distract the crap out of themselves from flight start to finish babbling at their GoPro.

LOL ...

A few other aviation youtubers are also really good at that distracting themselves during critical phases of flight thing... you’d think they’d realize you can shoot all the footage without talking to the camera at all, and then edit the voice-over in later... hmmm... technology!

I’m definitely not “impressed” by anyone babbling to a camera who can’t fly an ILS while babbling.

I guess at least one person here is.

How about... “sterile cockpit” Ye Olde Instagram must-make-selfies in the traffic pattern kiddies?

Just a thought... call me crazy. There’s a reason all the airliner videos from everybody’s phones started drying up years ago... want to get fired? Fire up that camera and start talking to it...

...instead of doing your job as Pilot... In... Command.

I think that's what got Steveo in trouble in his part 135 job. Now he just seems to do part 91 flights. Although even he doesn't talk to the camera during critical phases of the flight.

Random question, and pardon the thread drift--who was the corporate pilot (NetJets, maybe?) who was doing videos a year or so back? Kinda young guy, mentioned wanting to go to Delta, but enjoyed his current gig. Some videos from the cockpit, but put a lot more emphasis on what life was like in between the flights (waiting around FBOs, etc).

I found it interesting and educational, and I recall he was building a decent following (along with the expected detractors).

Can’t remember his name but met him (if we are talking of the same person) and he was hired by SWA.

Didn't you have a video a month or so ago doing approaches down pretty low?
Yes. And over on BeechTalk I started a thread to critique my performance. I called it "No such thing as a perfect flight":
https://www.beechtalk.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=189733

I try to do well on each flight, but I make mistakes - we all do. Recognizing that we make mistakes is key to mitigation. I firmly believe there is value in a constructive and cordial critique. I sure learned something from it.

Pretty sure challenge finished. Didn't you have a video a month or so ago doing approaches down pretty low?

yeah, but those were all on localizer, on glideslope, stabilized approaches down to secondary minimums with no 45* banks, not putting any passengers in danger and no blaming ATC for his own mistakes, all while not being a completely annoying a-hole. who watches those videos?

There's a great opportunity for those of you who feel so strongly about Jerry to make your own videos and post them for public critique.

You'd find the vast majority of mine quite boring as I have hard limits for stabilized approach gates. You won't find me doing three times the normal rate of decent of a 777/757/A320/insert-whatever-airliner-does-140kts-on-final while at 100'agl then floating halfway down the runway. All coming from an approach that should have been a miss in the first place because I wasn't even remotely stabilized. His whole approach in that video showing the high rate of descent was a complete dumpster fire.

There's a big push/desire to get safety up to the "airline level". One of the things pilots have to do to accomplish that is have the discipline to fly like airline pilots. And that usually means being boring.

I say "usually" because their are obviously missions and situations in the GA world where 121 level of safety just isn't going to work. More risks will have to be accepted.

Some yahoo flying is 421 from OAK to another airport in California isn't that mission.

Air Wagner is INOP on Youtube..no content, no videos.

When did this happen ?

I turned on notifications I give it about a month and an explanation video will be coming out.

I knew that comment was coming. Good luck figuring an actual mean or median.

well, somebody had to say it... I thought I'd get it out of the way...

Mean is an average. There are three terms, mean, median, and mode, which may colloquially acceptably be referred to as “mean.” Try to be accurate when you’re being pedantic.

it's more fun when there is ambiguity...

I reported it Tuesday. That was the day I found out about it. We've been discussing it ever since. Apparently they are still there but marked "private"

youtube was doing a 'members only' kind of thing, does that still exist? maybe he's doing that? can't imagine anyone here being stoopid enough to join, but maybe for entertainments sake. well maybe one or two here would willingly join......

We have discussed how Jerry is now (and recently) based in his videos.

it would be an interesting retrospective insight to interview his primary instructor and examiner.

It still exists. No he's not doing that. From the little I know, it's a monetization program - membership starts at $4.99/month - and Jerry shows no signs of doing that.

just curious but what would be the 'signs' of someone offering membership privileges?
