Was holding short at KASH for a flight of two aircraft on final, as they got closer I realized it was the Terrafugia flying car. Didn't have time to get my phone to take a pic in time. It was pretty cool watching it land having only seen them do high speed taxi testing.

You posted on POA (Pictures Or All-will-ridicule-you-for-not-getting-pictures) to say that you didn't get pictures? Bold move, Cotton...

What did they fly in formation with it? Did it look stable?

Flying car. Right.

You guys, I just saw an SR-71 Blackbird do a barrel roll while on approach at Tulsa International! Sorry no pics/video because I couldn't get to my phone. :)

Ya, about as likely as @Dave Theisen actually showing up for a PoA fly in event...:D

This guy was on final in front of me last week. Took a closer look. No plane, it was a large rectangular cloth shaped object he was sitting on. A flying .......? Sorry, no pictures.

Ouch! For the record, I’ve made the first two Kentucky fly-ins and will be there again this year.

Apparently you're required to post pictures on this thread..."or it didn't happen". ;)

I know posting without pics is verboten but it was still pretty cool to see. It was one Terrafugia flying car and a Cessna that I will describe as a "chase" plane.

I'll be sure to have my phone nearby next time.

I remember talking with those Terrafugia folks at Sun N fun very early on.... might have been around about the time they were first starting to show the prototype. I had high hopes but serious doubts it would ever go anywhere....
through the years I thought it looked like they might be progressing & have a real shot at something.... but that first look I had seems like a lifetime ago. Leaves me with the feeling that the idea is going nowhere....

glad to read that it was out flying though!

I love the thought of driving my airplane to the airport and spreading its wings, but . . . I don't like the thought of all the damage done by road hazards such as gravel which will only become apparent at the airport.

Will any body damage have to be fixed by an authorized FAA repair shop.??

yes.... especially considering what the thing would cost!

Anyone know how much? Does the engine run in car mode? So many questions.

Can it do loops and aileron rolls? And if so would it have to be followed by a forced tear filled youtube video for the drama factor? I guess what I am asking is can it handle 2 positive Gs or is it ridiculously fragile.

Not to mention corrosion... there's a reason airports don't spread road salt on runways and taxiways...
