This virus is terrible!

at some point over the last few months they stopped posting weekly stats and stated so on their website*

*source: eman1200. but really, they did.

Does the CDC ordinarily report flu stats outside of the flu season?

edit: the way the CDC flu vaccination page is worded (I know, "vaccination"), it would suggest reporting/updates during the season itself... and that kind of makes sense.

I have no idea. all I know is I was trying to research regular flu stats vs covid stats and at the time I checked the cdc website, they stated they were focusing only on covid #s and specifically not posting flu #s. that was several months ago. I don't regularly check so I have no idea what or when they post stuff.

Sorry to hear about Dawn Wells. But I wish there was more detailed information on exactly what she died of. Blaming every death on COVID these days happens to be a thing.
Don’t get political. Complaining about wearing masks also happens to be a thing these days.

You’re assuming the media requires their reporting to be factual.
Just read U.S. District Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil's opinion, leaning heavily on the arguments of Fox's lawyers: The "'general tenor' of the show should then inform a viewer that [Carlson] is not 'stating actual facts' about the topics he discusses and is instead engaging in 'exaggeration' and 'non-literal commentary.' "

Half the cast died younger than she did of other causes, but this is an indicator that COVID is the end of the world.

I don't look at it that way Salty. In fact I think a lot of aged people go after they catch a cold, or a flu or something else that progresses into pneumonia and kills them, part of life.

But the thing about this virus is it hits some much more severely than most and the experts really don't know why. I'm late 50's, if I get the flu, I don't expect to die from it. Were I late 70's or 80's, I'd be a little more worried about it. But what ever.

This virus, COVID 19, doesn't seem to be following the old rules. Healthy people of all ages are getting the bad version of it, and so far, there doesn't seem to be rhyme nor reason of why this is. Yes there are stats that suggest it's really not bad if you are younger than a certain age, but there are quite a few people locally who don't fit the stat profile and either die or have long term issues after getting sick. Our scientists still don't understand why.

So personally I've chosen to wear the mask, avoid crowds, limit exposure as much as possible. If I get it, I pray I get the mild version without the long term affect. I'll vaccinate when I get the opportunity.

I'm in a state, Massachusetts, where it has gone nuts, a lot of people getting sick, yet every time I'm out people are working hard to comply with guidelines. Covid is not the end of the world for most, but it is for some and that's alarming.

I think some people’s definition of “healthy” is based on surface indicators (gee, he must be healthy because he runs 5 miles a day) rather than actual health.

Why do you think you need more information on this? Does it matter if the final cause of death was pneumonia or heart failure?

The excess death data indicates that if anything, the Covid death toll is understated.

I very much want to see total death data year over year. I am open to this virus being more lethal than I would like. I am, admittedly skeptical.

With that said, for this entertainment news article, look closely at the Methodology noted below the article. It's not exactly a scientific representation... and that's being generous.

Because when you use the phrase “****ing idiotic”, the politicians assume you’re talking about them.

Oh, right. Makes sense. Except is it still political if it applies across the board to both sides?

As opposed to CNN where every story and report is 'actual facts' about the topics they discuss and there is no 'exaggeration' and 'non-literal commentary.'

You say don't be political and your very posts are political themselves.

Didn’t take long for Mary Ann to become totally absent from this thread.

Cheers
It wasn't about Mary Ann in the first place. Look at the thread title. Just more fertilizer for the fear plant.

Well, it's certainly popular to SAY that.

I read the first post by the OP. It was about Mary Ann. Thread could have gone anywhere given the title the OP selected, even a scholarly discussion of Gilligan’s Island:D Just an observation.

Cheers

Thank you. During the first wave when hospitals were throwing everyone on a respirator, the bonus was about $15k. As I said, big money to be made with COVID being around and please don’t think people/companies aren’t capitalizing on it.
How much of the extra money goes to the treating physician? Isn't that the person who determines the cause of death?

BBQ is terrible, check my work.

the 'rona is terrible. people have the 'rona. people eat BBQ. therefore, if the 'rona is terrible, BBQ is terrible.

Perfect SGOTI reasoning, I'd say!

If you think about it, pretty much all Mary Ann had to eat was coconuts and BBQ. Stick a feral pig and roast it over the coals. Maybe a water buffalo for @RyanB. Scavenge the island for some chilis and spices. Damn, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. I'm planning on doing a rack of baby backs myself tonight.

Is this published in a Peer Review Journal???? Is this the result of a double blind long term study???? Has Dr Fauci validated this???

If the answer is no, there WILL be repercussions!!!

OTOH, I’m vaccinated so I think I’ll have some BBQ Tonight.

Cheers

Is this the correct vaccine for BBQ?

That is certainly one of the items in the medicine chest. I have a prescription for Tahoe Blue Vodka at the moment.
