I need to replace p/n 0411257 universal joint on a Cessna yoke. Anyone have experience with McFarlane vs Cessna quality for this part? I incorrectly assumed that McFarlane would be cheaper, but that’s not the case anymore. Exactly the same price as Cessna now with internet pricing.

Aviation isn't cheap. Ever. Those universals are two per airplane, and look at how few airplanes there are compared to cars. And then look at the certification process hassles PMA manufacturers face. It's not pretty.

Cessna has taken to buying McFarlane stuff and reselling it, too. It's cheaper than producing small lots of exactly the same part. Cessna might be reselling the McFarlane universal joint at less than their old Cessna price, to match the McFarlane price. Maybe you should be glad, not sad.

No doubt. I thought the same thing when I saw that Cessna had lowered the price! Not so worried about that however. Really just like to know if McFarlane is better than stock Cessna on this particular item?

As mentioned, Cessna has been using/reselling McFarlane under the Cessna brand. From a quality aspect McFarlane is equal to but usually better as they have more flexibility/market drive to improve on the Cessna design. And depending where you buy your Cessna brand parts from, the customer service/support at McFarlane is top shelf in my experience.

Great point about the CS. The tech guys have always been awesome. Excellent experience with Ben in the tech department. He was a huge help the last time I did a full strut rebuild. Turned out better than expected.

Be glad it's a Cessna, and not a Piper. The U-joint for my Cherokee 140 yoke is close to $600 for one. PMA had the same part for $269, thru AS.
