Gaston's Fly-In 2020, Oct 15 thru 18.

Sweet, can you bring the Gaston's Braille 1 approach plate? I can't seem to find it in Foreflight. ;-)
I have some black construction paper somewhere I think. :)

I’ll be up on Saturday with Katie. I waited to late to book a room so it will only be a day trip this year. I’ll hopefully fly up but one of the partners has the plane currently. So unfortunately it will be a 3 hour drive up from our place.

Anyone flying in Thursday that will be able to post a runway condition report?

Nope, Friday departure here. But as there's been not much rain there at all, and none supposed to happen this week, I'd say you're gonna have 0 issue.

If anyone has a cabin and they can’t make it, let me know. I’ll take one or two so you don’t have to worry about losing your deposit.
Signed,
the procrastinator

We haven’t gotten any rain in the last week or so. Field will be dry and beautiful. I think they rolled it this year as several buddies say it’s smoother then the last several years.

My plane is free so Katie and I will be up bright and early Saturday Morning. I’ll try to time it so some of the dew has evaporated off. Y’all will get to meet Katie. She isn’t the one y’all met years ago.... That Katie is one who shall not be named!!! :D

Awwww, no whoop-de-do 1/3 down the runway!? I’ll miss that

Runway is dry and dusty. Or was that smoke from the arrivals? LOL

I say smoke! Haha

Our plan is to be up there Saturday Morning around 9 and stay to around 5:30/6.

Can’t wait to see everyone! It’s been awhile Greg!

We plan to be there on Saturday about 9 and stay till the afternoon. Looking forward to a great day.

Hah! I heard you on a ZAU frequency on Friday (I was flying CRE43) and wondered where you were headed. Duh! (Facepalm.)
Flew to RMG in GA for a funeral then took my sister with us to Gaston’s. Landed there about an hour before sunset. Left a day earlier than planned for wx in the Midwest but still we had a good time. You should have said hey. :)

I wasn't sure whether a controller would appreciate me tying up another controller's frequency for a non-essential communication. ;)

Am hoping this trip get turned into a video .... Even if it's a short video, I'd love to see that approach. Gaston's and Johnson Creek are still on the list ... well and OSHKOSH (still haven't got there since starting in 2006:().

There are dozens of videos on YouTube with approaches to Gastons.

All these photos and no one picked up a brochure?

I had one simple request.

So disappointed in you guys.

I never went into the lobby, and only went in the restaurant once. Sorry,

I checked the footage and it all seemed to turn out okay, so standby for the video. :) I was a bit high crossing midfield because a 4 ship of Yaks went under me. Got the speed and alt correct by the base to dog leg. Lining up on short final approaching the flare and the setting sun reacted with the smoke/ash haze on my window from all the fires in eastern Arkansas I flew through and forward vis was gone. Interesting approach. I’m trying to catch up on editing. Try to keep them chronological. Have a couple non-travel flights then a fun New England trip and Gatlinburg trip to get through. Editing is my slow down...flying is the fun part.

It’s only our 2nd time but we really enjoy it. Hope you have the chance to get there soon!

Nah, if they don’t seem busy they probably appreciate something different. Dropping my sister off a few months ago the CHA controller recognized us and she chatted for 10 min.

I would've been there if my plane wasn't in annual. I'm planning on making the Sun N Fun Holiday Fly In

Yes, and I don't get tired of watching any of the aviation videos ... now there are some like the ones I've taped or my son years ago that are off an Iphone and no where near the quality of what radarContact would produce ...

It took longer than I thought but here it is. I’m further behind than I like but will catch up quick with my long/extensive annual that’s underway. Can’t wait to get her back!

*should be near blind and near full stall...shortened for brevity. :)

I saw your video ... that sun was blinding. I laughed when you said,"that's enough of that" for the bitchin' Betty:p

Your videos and Aviation 101 are extremely well put together and it's nice that you add a little time for "sites to see" ... keep up the great work.

Thanks for the kind words!

After holding on the lake/arrival during the last Sun n Fun, it became a must have to install that mute switch. :)

Great video Kevin! Living in Southeast Missouri we frequent Gaston's for lunch. If you ever need cheap fuel, stop in at KMAW and say hello.

I wish I could do this, but the whole job thing keeps me in place. One of these days, if I ever retire...
