Daily Pic

I felt guilty posting my crap shots in this thread the first time... and the recent pics sure don't help me feel any better... but what the heck. Here's one today taken while my wife and I were up for a fall foliage tour. Still not quite at peak, but didn't want to miss an opportunity. This one is of a private airport where the runway is the back straight-away of a race track atop a nice hill (mountain, but not really). VERY cool... although we couldn't land because they were racing while we flew over.

Hey that's pretty cool!

I enjoy this thread, discovered it recently but nice to see other parts of the country where people fly. As far as photo quality, I've yet to see a bad picture here, but Lowflynjack has certainly set a very high bar!!

Nice. What's the name of the track?

I've heard they allow landings at Buttonwillow Raceway (west of Bakersfield) with special permission. It'd be fun if you kept your race car on the premises to fly in for the whole "arrive and drive" thing.

I know it’s not a great photo but it was my first time over 200 mph in level flight. I caught a great tail-wind on the way back from picking up my Cardinal RG after getting the failed alternator replaced in Booneville, AR.

I tried removing the wing for a better picture once. Don't do it! I could only turn in one direction, and it made landings real hard.
Obviously you did not receive the proper training from a disgruntled and out of work CFI. :)

I'd rather be flying.

Don't get me wrong, I can't imagine doing anything else for a living. I wish someone would wash these windows so I can take better pictures.

Those pics bring back so many memories for me. Except I was in a rice, cotton, wheat or soybean field. Sometimes driving the combine, sometimes the grain buggy and sometimes the truck to the gin or storage facility.

Its kinda hard to see, but I thought this was pretty cool. There was a Navy P8 doing pattern work, this was their left base to final turn, I was at 1000 so they were pretty low for a 737 on a base leg eh? The runway is behind the shot to the right(direction of blue arrow).
